Iranians chant “Death to Liar”, demand Khameini’s resignation for Ukrainian airplane crash

Date:

Tehran – A group of Iranian protesters on Saturday chanted “Death to the Liar” against Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei demanding him to step down after Tehran said that its military had mistakenly shot down a Ukrainian plane, killing all 176 people on board.

“Commander-in-chief (Khamenei) resign, resign,” videos posted on Twitter showed hundreds of people chanting, in front of Tehran’s Amir Kabir university.

The reports were confirmed by Iran’s semi-governmemt news agency Fars.

One of the reports mentioned that the demonstrators raised the slogan “Soleimani is a murderer and so his leader”, on the streets while ripping up pictures of Qassem Soleimani, the prominent commander of the Guard’s Quds Force who was killed in a U.S. drone strike last Friday.

It said the protesters numbered about 700 to 1,000 people.
