Yemen’s Defense Minister escapes a large explosion targeting his Convoy

Marib — Defense Minister of Yemen Lieutenant General Mohammed Ali Al-Maqhdashi on Tuesday escaped a large explosion that targeted his convoy in the ministry headquarters in Marib province of Yemen.

The large explosion hit the minister’s convoy while it was inside a complex of buildings. It killed his personal driver and an escort, and four others got injured, Republican Yemen reported.

Iran-backed Houthi militias are believed to have carried out the attack since they have carried similar attacks for the past five years, the report said.

The timing of the attack was, when Almaqhdashi and top military officials were about to have a meeting.
