Saudi Crown Prince: No Negotiation and Compromise on Palestine
Riyadh — Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday has called on peace-loving nations around the world to recognize independent Palestine, and that there will be no negotiations and compromise on Palestinian statehood, according to Saudi-based Aajel News agency.
He urged the countries to join forces in recognizing Palestine, noting that the time has come for the international community to take action. The resolution passed by the United Nations General Assembly, which considers Palestine eligible for full membership, serves as a foundation for this call.
An official statement has been issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reaffirming its strong, steadfast, and unwavering commitment to the establishment of the Palestinian state. This position, the Kingdom emphasizes, is non-negotiable and not open to debate or compromise.
During a significant speech at the Shura Council on September 18, 2024, the Crown Prince made it clear that Saudi Arabia’s position on establishing an independent Palestinian state—complete with East Jerusalem as its capital—is unwavering. He stressed that the Kingdom will not pursue diplomatic relations with Israel until this goal is achieved.
This strong stance was reiterated at an extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit held in Riyadh on November 11, 2024. The Crown Prince underscored the importance of working towards a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, alongside a call to end the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reaffirmed the Kingdom’s absolute rejection of any infringement on the rights of the Palestinian people, condemning Israeli settlement policies and land annexation. It is a reminder that the plight of the Palestinian people is not just a political issue, but a humanitarian one, with deep emotional and cultural roots.
“The duty of the international community today is to alleviate the severe human suffering endured by the Palestinian people”, the statement read, highlighting their unwavering connection to their land. The Kingdom firmly believes that true and lasting peace cannot be achieved without recognizing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, a message conveyed to various U.S. administrations over the years.
Saudi Arabia’s call stands as a beacon of hope, urging nations to unite for justice and dignity for the Palestinian people. It’s a reminder that the path to peace is paved with understanding, recognition, and action—qualities that the Crown Prince hopes to inspire in leaders globally.
