CONSPIRACY: Special Kashmir Police Officer recruited Terrorists and later killed them for Awards

0

In a scandalous revelation in Indian-ruled Kashmir, a ‘special’ Police officer was arrested on 4 June 2013 for encouraging Kashmiris to join the militant organization and later either raiding them or killing them to receive awards.

Sub-inspector of Police – Shiv Kumar Sharma – and his bodyguard was arrested by the Indian Police for masterminding a terrorist attack on a Police station in Himalayan region in April 2013. The shocking revelation came to light when the five terrorists involved in the attack disclosed Sharma’s name, said Police officer Ashkoor Wani investigating the case.

Another Police officer, who wanted to remain anonymous, told, “two are now the focus of a wider investigation into charges that they convinced local men to become insurgents in Indian Kashmir and then turned them in or killed them to receive rewards and promotions.”

Sharma has a glorious 15-years of history of killing over 68 terrorists and he was awarded India’s highest gallantry award in the past.

He was recruited as a ‘special’ counterinsurgency officer, funded directly by the Indian Home Ministry. He earned great name in the region for hunting down dreaded terrorists and controlling the insurgencies.

However, his arrest shook the Indian authorities who spare no efforts to keep the region safe from the separatist insurgencies.

“It’s shocking news for all of us. He was so effective in fighting against militants,” said another Police officer, who has worked with Sharma.

“He would motivate young men to join militancy through his vast spy network and then get them arrested or even killed to win rewards and promotions,” the second police officer said.

The Guardian quoted human rights activists that Indian Government rewards its army and Police for arresting and killing suspected rebels, however, this has deepened corruption in the police and army.

The activists accuse the security forces of taking bribes, selling military supplies on the black market, and aiding and benefiting from timber smuggling.

Kashmir-based human rights activist, Khurram Parvez, told The Guardian, “the important element in the case is to probe how many of his kills were innocents he lured and recruited as militants”.

“I’m worried about the future”: Iranians struggle against sanctions

For all the problems, there is little sign that Iranians want another revolution, not least because a sizeable number are still fiercely supportive of the last one.

Seventy-year-old Heidar Fekri has been selling industrial equipment from his small store in a Tehran bazaar since before the revolution, but for the first time he is not sure he can survive.

He means it literally: “My shelves are empty, my warehouses are empty and soon I will have to close the doors. This has been my entire life – I won’t survive long after the doors close.”

Economic Downfall

Iran’s economy had plenty of problems even before US President Donald Trump decided in May to abandon the 2015 nuclear deal and reimpose “crippling” sanctions.

But that move exacerbated a record drop in Iran’s currency, down 70 percent in the past year, and prompted an exodus of foreign firms.

Anticipation of the return of the oil embargo – due to kick in on Monday – has already plunged the country into recession and will see the economy shrink by 3.6 percent next year, says the International Monetary Fund.

For Fekri, who has been bringing in industrial pumps and drills from Europe for 47 years, the uncertainty means he has not imported anything for more than a year.

“Sales have dropped 90 percent compared with six months ago. The whole bazaar is suffering,” he told AFP.

Repayment of Mullahs’ actions

Almost all products in Iran – from medicines to aircraft spares to plastic bottles – are tied into the global supply chain, so the currency collapse and renewed isolation threaten every corner of society.

The government has been forced to provide food baskets to around half Iran’s households as inflation soars.

For the middle class, perhaps the biggest blow is psychological, as the burst of hope that accompanied the nuclear deal in 2015 – the promise of the country finally shedding its pariah status – has evaporated.

“No one knows what the Americans actually want. We did everything they wanted and it wasn’t enough. It feels like bullying,” said Sam Cordier, head of PGt Advertising, which represents foreign clients such as British Airways and Nestle in Tehran.

Washington says the sanctions are designed to curtail Iran’s “destabilising” activity in the Middle East, but many see them as an attempt to trigger a revolution.

“It’s not fair for the Americans to incite violence. If this continues, all the professional businessmen with something to share through knowledge and investment will leave,” said Cordier.

He was forced to sack six of his 30 staff and reduce salaries for the rest as, one by one, his foreign clients packed their bags.

“I was crying every 10 minutes when I told them. These are the people who are being hurt. Many young, educated people are leaving the country. There’s a massive brain-drain,” he said.

Blame Game

There is plenty of hatred towards the Trump administration, but a surprising number of Iranians pin the blame on their own government for not better protecting them.

“Yes, America is doing bad things but they are looking out for their interests. If our state had looked out for Iran’s interests, we wouldn’t have the situation we have now,” said Erfan Yusufi, 30, whose hip new coffee shop is struggling to cope with rising prices and falling demand.

Iran’s leaders face a tricky balancing act, remaining defiant in the face of US pressure, while acknowledging the economic pain felt in the country.

“All of us understand people are suffering and under pressure,” President Hassan Rouhani told parliament last weekend.

“We cannot tell our people that because of America’s pressure, we cannot do anything. This answer is not acceptable.”

He blamed foreign media for “filling people’s minds with false propaganda” about soaring prices, though Iran’s own central bank says food prices rose 46.5 percent in the year to September.

Another Revolution against Mullah regime

For all the problems, there is little sign that Iranians want another revolution, not least because a sizeable number are still fiercely supportive of the last one.

Most others are fearful of violent unrest, cowed by the security forces or uninterested in doing the bidding of a foreign power.

There is instead a sad resignation among many young people, who often refer to themselves as the “burned generation” for having been denied the chance to realise their potential.

“I’m worried about the future,” said Yusufi in his coffee shop. “Our generation starts each day not knowing what will become of us.”

OPINION: Will Khashoggi media-trial against Saudi Arabia affect its economy?

0

By Advocate PA Hameed Padubidri

Most of the negativities stem from the “flush-button” of the world media. It’s indirect (though not direct) target taken up by global Dinosaurs including Iran, to hit the economy and leadership of Saudi Arabia.

It is said that the Saudi Arabian economy would badly get effected due to the withdrawal of foreign investment by business giants due to the present Khashoggi media trial.

However, looking closely at the current scenario, no such negative impact, as magnified, will be on the Saudi business market except minor temporary economical tremors.

A good number of international investments are still seen making smooth walk into the Kingdom. That’s what, most of the global economists opined and predicted.

TADAWUL (Saudi Stock Market) seemed to have been fallen for a day; but recovered shortly.

We can say that the base of Saudi Arabian economic is strongly footed and it’s powerhouse of global capital markets attracting fabulous returns. There is, in fact, stability and sustainability in its growth, that makes the confidence level of investors not to be withering away.

We can cite a list of reasons for that:

  • Powers are consolidated under the able leadership of Mohammed bin Salman
  • Significant attempt for localization of most of the activities including defense sectors-via transfer of technology
  • Red-taps are seen to be considerably reduced
  • Regulations providing for the investment protection are in place.
  • Legal systems are becoming more open especially commercial and business laws, anti-bribery law and above all, major reforms are taking place under the Saudi Arabian Vision-2030 etc.

These are all Key Performance Indicators.

Though, the reforms have few side-effects, particularly for SME (small-to-medium enterprise) businesses, but in the long run, it will stabilize the market with prosperous results.

Having said this, the global fear with regard to the investment in Saudi Arabia is just a tailwind. Most of the negativities stem from the “flush-button” of the world media. It’s indirect (though not direct) target taken up by global Dinosaurs including Iran, to hit the economy and leadership of Saudi Arabia. That’s why, most of the news media – electronic and print media – are chewing the same bubble gum that neither they spit nor gulp.

Saudi family honors Indian Worker’s Services with full-blown celebrations

Riyadh – A Saudi family honored their Indian worker for his relentless service to the family. They celebrated his farewell with a full-blown celebration remarking the worker’s contributions.

Dib Al-Mutairi, the Saudi employer of Mohammed Aref of India, told media, “Aref had been providing his service for years and now it was time to honor his excellent efforts.”

The cake reads in Arabic – “Thank you Aref”.

“It is a difficult time for the family as he became a family member,” he added.

Another family member said, “no matter how much we celebrate, it’s always less compared to his services.”

The pictures of the farewell celebrations went viral on social media, appealing a large number of Indian expatriates commending the family’s honesty in prizing the worker’s efforts.

MYTH: Salafi Jihadism and Saudi-sponsored Global Terror

0

by Abu Khuzaimah Ansari, Abu Hibban, and Abu Rumaisah

Modern writers have directed multifaceted attacks on Saudi Arabia by spreading a calculated smear campaign and all sorts of malicious allegations, ranging from; Saudi Arabia promotes terror and violence, it harbors extremists, sponsors militant Islam worldwide and is responsible for the global threat against humanity through radicalization and terrorism. This is and are, indisputably shameless lies that only emanate due to a lack of knowledge and a deliberate concerted effort to malign Saudi Arabia and ultimately Salafi school of thought, whereas the concise truth and reality could not be furthest from the truth in relation to these baseless allegations. Cdr Youseff H. Aboul-Enein writes:

The Saudi Kingdom as a government has tamed Militant Islamists and settled back to Salafi Islamists trends, spreading its peculiar and intolerant brands of Islam through dawa and not violence [1].

This contradicts the views and claims of other writers, that Saudi Arabia promotes violence, this in of itself shows the fallacy of their arguments. Some writers have expanded on this discourse while explaining key facts associated with Saudi Arabia. They say Saudi Arabia is known to spread Salafism and according to the definition of Salafism, which I must add, is self-concocted and a fabrication, in order to justify their narrative and an understanding that conforms to their falsehood. In reality, all such terms related to Salafism are false as there is only one type of Salafism. I am referring to terms like ‘Quietist Salafism,’ ‘Political Salafism’ and Jihadi Salafism,[2] which, undoubtedly apart from minor fact of being conjured up to categorize modern trends, is outright erroneous.

We can deliberate on this later, but when Jessica Stern; a research professor out of Boston University and who also served on the Clinton administration’s National Security Council Staff and J.M Berger; a fellow with George Washington University’s programme on extremism, explained these terms,[3] whilst borrowing them from Quintan Wiktorowitz.[4] According to their definition of ‘Quietist Salafism’ they say:

The quietist faction is, in a sense, the strain of Salafism that has responded the least to the world events of the twentieth century. Individuals in this group understand their central project to be the purification of Islam and do not participate in politics.[5] Though there are quietists Salafis across the Muslim world, the center of gravity for this movement is the existing religious establishment in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is somewhat atypical for a country in the Muslim world, but the very things that make it unique have made is hospitable to the quietists.[6]

On one hand, many like J. Stern and J.M. Berger, the example here; argue that Saudi Arabia has been an influential champion of Salafism, and we know from the first principles of Salafism; that it vehemently denounces, rejects, refutes and openly warns against terrorism, extremism and militancy. However, both writers, naively allude to:

It suggests, in a sense, that Saudi Arabia is responsible for movements such as ISIS because of the role that the Saudi Arabian government played in facilitating the spread of Salafism across the region.[7]

As injudicious and untruthful as it sounds, which is undoubtedly the case, this diatribe would have been just ridiculed and brazenly dismissed as a very poor judgment of error, but to add insult to injury, they quote an article of Ed Hussain as evidence![8] This article is a culmination of half-truths and some rudimentary information, spun to give a repulsive intent; the authors quote it to suggest a colossal claim, this has but except caused them stern embarrassment. Furthermore, both writers have themselves defined Salafism as:

Salafism is a loosely organised movement within Sunni Islam…but there are core features to the movement. Salafism is call for a return to the beliefs, practises and sincerity of early Islam. In fact, the term “Salafism” is a direct reference to these early years, and refers to the first few generations of Muslims, known as the salaf. Salafis prefer the Islam of these early Muslims and believe that centuries of human interpretation – influenced by pre-existing religious traditions, cultural biases, political agendas and individual self-interests – have corrupted Islam and led to decline across the Muslim world.[9]

So, should it not be the case for anyone who “suggests,” that at the very least they look at the teaching, ideology and methodology of the Salaf, who the Salafis ascribe to, with regards to the modern trends and themes and labelling Salafism and thus Saudi Arabia being responsible for the terrorist group, ISIS?

Is this not a huge leap over clear facts and perhaps total disregard for the truth while ignoring fundamentals precepts of Salafism. We find further contradictions in the understanding of these modern writers, and this is the case with most of them. They, Cdr Youseff H. Aboul-Enein argue that Saudi Arabia spread Islam through daʿwah and not violence, where as Stern and Berger argue Saudi Arabia exported their brand of Salafism which ultimately and by default led to the formation of ISIS and their activities. However, when have ISIS ever been at the forefront of giving daʿwah and in a non violent manner, in fact the total opposite. ISIS have killed Muslims openly, is this the daʿwah that is being referred to? These basic points are indeed sufficiently adequate to show the intelligent mind – the fallacy of these points suggested and hypothesized by these writers.

Some writers have focussed on the Wahhabīs as a movement and have also obviously projected a vivid view of the association between them and Salafism. Malise Ruthven labels the Wahhabīs as fundamentalists and asserts they formed close ideological ties with the Muslim Brotherhood from around circa 1960 to spread Wahhabī fundamentalism.[10] This is also a gross error chronologically and also false because their ideology and the ideology of the Wahhabis and Salafis is poles apart, in doctrine and in methodology (Manhaj).

Even in recent times, when Saudi Arabia has continued its efforts in curbing radicalisation and fighting terrorism, ISIS continues its campaign of terror in the Kingdom and there have been at least Nine separate incidences of violence and terror attacks carried out with ISIS claiming responsibility. So much so that even the holy sanctuary of Madīnah and the Prophet H‘s mosque was not spared by these mindless terrorists, while the people were preparing to pray and break their fast in the Holy month of Ramadhān.

Saudi Arabia has seen terrorism and violence in its Kingdom prior to 9/11, from around 2000, with an increase in the violent terrorist attacks year by year, with the most recent being July 2018. Does a country subject its citizens and its visitors, who are protected and under the safety of the sovereign state; to violent terrorism, suicide bombings, destruction of property and life, indiscriminate senseless killings? Of course not! Then how do these modern writers, without any regard for the truth and respect for the dead, hurl baseless and false allegations at Saudi Arabia, Wahhabism and Salafism for the spread of violent terrorism. Foreign secret services although implicated, were surprising cleared by the police of their country, very conveniently of any involvement, but the allegations of foreign involvement in destabilising Saudi Arabia with a relentless campaign of terror are very much still on the table.

This short treatise of the Saudi Arabian Salafī scholar, Shaykh ʿAbd al-Muḥsin b. Ḥamad al-ʿAbbād al-Badr is a repudiation of the people whose ideology is to cause corruption and chaos throughout the lands. They cause destruction and devastation physically; to life and property as well as emotional and psychological trauma to all those affected by their reckless killing, suicide bombings and indiscriminate killing under the satanic principle of ‘collateral damage’. In current times various groups and organisations have arisen, whose intent is to kill innocent civilians, Muslims and non-Muslim, the elderly, women and children. Such heinous crimes are severely reprimanded in Islam and they also oppose its pristine teachings based on divine scriptures. These wicked and evil people distort and manipulate the scriptural texts, so that they conform to their whims and desires.

This treatise, ‘With What Reasoning and Religion Can Bombings and Destruction Be Considered as Jiād?of Shaykh ʿAbd al-Muḥsin addresses the important issues of killing innocent people, suicide bombings and senseless destruction, which was authored after the Riyadh bombings in 2003. This treatise also clarifies the Salafist view on the unlawfulness of suicide bombings, violent terror, the killing of innocent people and the sanctity of human life, which the Salafis have always advocated. Let this treatise also serve as a reminder to the detractors, who exert considerable effort to discredit the teachings of Salafiyyah, which is free from the so called brands of Salafism. We pray that individuals affected with the ideas of the Khawārij and extremists, benefit from this treatise while reading it with an open and sincere mind.

How Princess Durru-Shehvar daughter of Ottoman’s last Caliph modernized Hyderabad

0

The name of Durru Shehvar, the elder daughter-in-law of the Nizam of HyderabadMir Osman Ali Khan, is remembered for the social and philanthropic work she so zealously engaged in Hyderabad. Born in Turkey, brought up in France but married to the son of the world’s richest man, the Nizam of Hyderabad, Princess Durru Shehvar chose to spend her last years in London. She brought modernity to the Nizam’s household and worked for the upliftment of women in Hyderabad.

Her marriage with prince Azam Jah Bahadur, the elder son of the seventh Nizam, Mir Osman Ali Khan, resulted in the union of two illustrious Muslim families, the Turkish Caliphate and the Asaf Jahis of Hyderabad. Durru Shehvar, the only daughter of Abdul Majjid II, the Caliph of Turkey was born in 1914 and brought up with modern education, training in martial arts and was intended to succeed her father.

Nizam and the exiled Caliph

In March 1924 after Turkey became a Republic, the Caliphate was abolished and the royal family expelled. Abdul Majjid and his family settled in Nice, a southern French Mediterranean port city. The British Red Cresent Society, friendly with the deposed ruler appealed to Muslim rulers around the world to come to the aid of the impoverished Caliph. Persuaded by Maulana Shaukath Ali and his brother, Maulana Mohammad Ali, Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan decided to send a life-time monthly pension of 300 pounds to the deposed Caliph, and allowances to several individuals in the family.

When Durru Shehvar, came of age, she was sought in marriage by several Muslim Royals including the Shah of Persia and the King of Egypt for their heirs. Shaukat Ali prevailed on the Nizam to send a proposal to the Caliph asking for Darru Shever’s hand for his elder son, Prince Azam Jah. The deposed Caliph could hardly reject the offer from his benefactor.

But it was not that easy; the Mehr (the bride money) of 50,000 pounds that the Caliph demanded for his daughter was “too big”, the Nizam felt. But with the intervention of Shaukath Ali, the Caliph proposed to offer for the same Mehr, the hand of his brother’s daughter Niloufer, for the Nizam’s younger son, Prince Mauzam Jah. The Nizam readily agreed and sent his two sons to France.

The marriage of Princess Durru Shehvar with Prince Azam Jah, along with that of Prince Mauzam and Niloufer took place in Nice, in France, on 12 November, 1931, in a simple ceremony attended by only a simple affair with only the members of Sultan’s family at Nice, a few Turkish nobles and friends as well as representatives of the Nizam — Sir Akbar Hydari and Nawab Mehdi Yar Jung, who happened to be in Europe at that time to attend the Round Table Conference. The Khalifa himself performed the ceremonies. All the offices and educational institutions in the Nizam’s dominions were given a holiday on the day.

Meeting the Mahatma

After a month of festivities in Nice, the Princes with their concerts set sail from Venice to India on December 12, 1931. The ship they were travelling in also contained a star co-passenger, Mahatma Gandhi, who was returning after attending the Second Round Table conference in London. Shaukat Ali, who was accompanying him, having known Gandhi’s sympathy for the exiled Caliph for whose restoration, he pleaded during his non-cooperation struggle, arranged a meeting of the young Hyderabadi Royals with Gandhi on the board of the ship.

However, there was a hitch Gandhi who was traveling in III class would not step into Ist. class where the young couples stayed; nor would the Hyderabad Princes be willing to go to III class where Gandhi stayed. Shoukath Ali, worked out a compromise and the meeting of Gandhi and the newly weds took place in a lounge in the II class.

Active in Hyderabad

In Hyderabad, Durru Shehvar soon identified herself with the people . With a great passion for providing health care and education for common people, she set up a general and children’s hospital in Purani Haveli, which still runs in her name. A Junior College for girls in Yakutpura, Bagh-e-Jahanara, is also run on the funds she provided. She inaugurated the Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College Hospital in Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) . The Nizam called her his precious Jewel (Nagina) and encouraged her to participate actively in Hyderabad’s social life. The proud father -in -lawloved to point out how Durru Shehvar was taller than his son. In the company of her friend Rani Kumudini Devi, she rode horses, drove cars and played Tennis. With her beauty and charm, etiquette and dress sense, she transformed Hyderabad’s social circuit.

Durru Shehvar also laid the foundation stone of the Begumpet Airport building in 1936. Until then a small strip at Hakimpet served as the airport for Hyderabad. She ensured her sons, Prince Mukarram Jah and Prince Muffakam Jah, received the best possible western education in Europe and married Turkish brides, as she desired. Mukarram studied in Eton, where India’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru had earlier studied. Years later, Mukarram, declared heir to Hyderabad throne, at the suggestion of his grandfather, Mir Osman Ali Khan, served as Honorary Aid De Camp (ADC) to Prime Minister Nehru!

Durru Shehvar was fluent in French, English, Turkish and Urdu and even contributed articles to French magazines. She believed that women should earn their own living and worked hard to remove the practice of purdah. However, there was a great gulf between the Princess and the Prince, Azam Jah and their marriage fell apart within few years. It is an irony that when she was born, her father, the Caliph was the head of all the Muslims in the world; but was overthrown and sent away in exile. After her marriage, Hyderabad state was abolished and integrated with the Indian Union in 1948. She faced fame and power as well as adversary, displacement and agony, all with equanimity, and won the hearts of the people in Hyderabad, where she spent most of her adult life.

Princess Durru Shehvar, after shifting permanently to London, frequented the city. Her last visit to the city was in 2004, two years before she passed away in London at the age of 92. With her death, ended a glorious chapter of Hyderabad.

80-years-old Muslim man gets mob-lynched in Bihar during Durga Puja

Bihar – A mob killed and burnt an old Muslim man in Sitamarhi area of Bihar on 20 October when the mob wasn’t allowed to carry out the Durga procession through the area. However, 38 among them have been arrested so far.

According to local Police officials, the mob carrying Durga Puja procession was issued a prior warning to avoid the Muslim-dominated area fearing the clashes to take place.

Taking the warning as an honor-issue, the mob became wild and violent.

To vent out the frustration, they found an oblivious 80-year-old Zainul Ansari returning from his daughter’s house. The mob brutally bet their soft-target with sticks and rods, and later burnt him alive.

The pictures and videos were reportedly spread by The Millat Times, and the Police officials issued a notice to the channel to take down the videos immediately in order to avoid the future clashes.

Unfortunately, the gruesome killing has been deliberately ignored by the media.

Internet has been suspended in the area to avoid any kind of rumor mongering and political-mileage.

Vikash Burman, Superintendent of Police Sitamarhi told media, “Ansari was not part of the two warring sides. He was likely targeted by the mob when he was in the locality.”

However, six FIRs have been filed so far and 38 criminals have been arrested. More arrests are yet to take place.

FAITH: The difference between Tafseer and Tadabbur

0

By Noorah Jukaku

What is the difference between (Tafseer) understanding an Ayah and (Tadabbur) pondering upon it??

A person might think that understanding the meaning of an Ayah (Tafseer) is the same as pondering upon it (Tadabbur), but there is a big difference between the two.

Example of Understanding an Ayah:

وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ۥ فَقَدۡ فَازَ فَوۡزًا عَظِيمًا

“And whosoever obeys Allah and His Messenger (sallallahualaiwsallam) he has indeed achieved a great achievement.”

(Surah Ahzab: 71)

The meaning of this Ayah is that the one who obeys Allah and his messenger deserves a great success in this world and the hereafter. This is the understanding of the Ayah.

As for pondering upon it, then it is to ask yourself:

  • Where am I concerning this Ayah?
  • Am I obedient to Allah Azza wa jal?
  • If I am, did I feel the success?
  • Do I live by this Ayah?
  • Do I follow what I am commanded to do?
  • Do I prevent myself from the matters that are prohibited?

So taking yourself into account while recitation of the Quran is what is meant by tadabbur (pondering), which is why Allah says:

أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ أَمۡ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبٍ أَقۡفَالُهَآ

“Do they not then think deeply in the Quran, or are their hearts locked up?”
(Surah Muhammed: 24)

So it is upon each person to do tadabbur of Quran because it is the Book that is sent down upon them to guide them and direct them to the goodness in the world and the hereafter.

And doing this is very easy for everyone.
