Pune – The bellowing injured driver of an over-turned truck on old Mumbai-Pune highway was left while the local residents looted the onion sacks.
The truck loaded with onion sacks fell off the Valvan bridge near Lonavla on Pune-Mumbai highway around 6am on Thursday and landed 30 feet down on the old Mumbai-Pune highway.
No sooner the news about the scattered onions spread in the locality, the local residents including other vehicle drivers came running with cloth bags and utensils to loot the onions, leaving the injured driver to himself.
Lonavla Police had to disperse the crowd and took the injured driver to a private hospital at Somatane Phata where his treatment is underway.
Police said, “The truck driver lost control over the wheels and banged onto the divider after which the truck took the plunge and fell down on the old highway.”
The Police officials are currently discussing to file stealing case against the unidentified residents.
