Riyadh – Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, engaged in a series of diplomatic calls on Friday, urging members of the UN Security Council to fulfill their responsibility in maintaining international peace and security. The focus of these discussions was the ongoing military operations in Gaza by Israel, which have resulted in a significant loss of life and humanitarian crisis. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the urgent need for international action to address the situation.

With the death toll in Gaza surpassing 1,900, including a high number of women and children, and the region facing severe shortages of food, water, medical supplies, and a complete power blackout, the situation has reached a critical point.

During phone conversations with counterparts from the United Kingdom, Brazil, Malta, Albania, India, Norway, and Sweden, Prince Faisal emphasized the importance of implementing Security Council resolutions pertaining to the Palestinian issue. These resolutions aim to establish a just and comprehensive solution in accordance with international law. The Foreign Minister further stressed the need for Israel to adhere to international humanitarian law, including facilitating the delivery of food and relief supplies to Gaza and lifting the siege.

The officials discussed the latest developments in Gaza and the surrounding areas, as well as the international efforts being made to resolve the crisis. Prince Faisal called for an immediate halt to all forms of targeting civilians and the prevention of forced displacement in Gaza.

In addition to the aforementioned calls, Prince Faisal also engaged with his counterparts from Indonesia and Gabon, as well as the EU Foreign Policy Chief, Josep Borrell. Similar discussions were held, focusing on the protection of civilians, the flow of aid to Gaza, the importance of international community involvement in ending the violence and preventing forced displacement, and the crucial role of Israel in adhering to international humanitarian law to ensure regional and global security and stability.

The Saudi Arabian government’s diplomatic efforts reflect its grave concern over the deteriorating situation in Gaza and its commitment to upholding international peace and security. The calls made by Prince Faisal bin Farhan underscore Saudi Arabia’s call for immediate action to address the humanitarian crisis and bring an end to the violence, ultimately paving the way for a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with international law.
