The foreign minister of Japan and the UAE’s industry minister discuss COP28.

Tokyo – Sultan Al-Jaber, the UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, met with Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi on Friday. Al-Jaber is in Japan to attend the G7 Ministers’ Meeting on Climate, Energy, and Environment in Sapporo.

The progress of the COP28 preparations was described by Minister Jaber. The conference will take place in Dubai in late November or early December.

Hayashi congratulated Minister Jaber on his selection as the COP28 President-Elect and reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to fully participating in the talks to ensure a successful outcome for COP28.

Hayashi went on to say that Japan places a high value on its strategic alliance with the UAE and looks forward to expanding its current levels of collaboration in a number of areas.

The two ministers shared opinions on cooperation in the domains of defence and the situation in Ukraine while reiterating their commitment to continuing their collaboration under the Comprehensive and Strategic Partnership Initiative.

Minister Jaber stated his desire for the bilateral ties with Japan to continue to grow.
