Three Muslim Youngsters in India’s Gujarat severely beaten for not chanting “Jai Shri Ram”

Gujarat — Three Muslim youngsters were allegedly beaten up in Godhra of Gujarat state of India for not chanting “Jai Shri Ram” slogan. Police have arrested four men in connection with the case.

According to the statements given by the youngsters, the accused stopped them on the road and forced them to chant “Jai Shri Ram”, refusing to comply with the demands they were beaten severely. Two minors were also involved in the case.

The youngsters were rushed to the local hospital where they are undergoing treatment.

Superintendent of Police, Dr Leena Patil told media that the case seems to be of a minor scuffle between the two groups. Police are yet to conclude if the incident took place based on communal lines.

Dr Patil watched the video footage of the incident which showed a verbal scuffle between the two groups. “We are still investigating but so far nothing of such sort has been revealed,” she speculated.
