Saudi Arabia helped 84 Countries with donations worth $92.4 billion in 23 years, says KSRelief Supervisor

Makkah — Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has so far donated more than $92.4 billion to 84 countries across the globe in the past 23 years, said Abdullah al-Rabeeah, the supervisor of King Salman Center for Humanitarian Aid and Relief (KSRelief) on Monday during 44th Annual Grand Haj Symposium held in Makkah.

Speaking at the symposium “The Haj: Coexistence and Tolerance”, Al-Rabeeah said, “Kingdom was and still is providing assistance to disaster victims and support the poor. It (the Kingdom) is a generous country, the source of good and is visited by those in need for help”, while addressing the topic “Islam in the service of communities”.

Saudi Arabia has provided financial aid worth $2.2 billion to Yemen, $355 million to Palestine, $277 million to Syria, $180 million to Somalia, $116 million to Pakistan, $71 million to Indonesia, and $17 million to Burma, the KSRelief supervisor said.

He added that, Kingdom is an Islamic country deeply rooted in human memory with its immortal work in the charitable field, pointing out that the Kingdom provided nearly $92.4 billion to support 84 countries in the world since 1996 till 2019.

He highlighted KSRelief’s work since 2015 and said that, “the noble humanitarian goals and principles of the center include achieving impartiality, transparency, professionalism, taking the initiative, innovation, building partnerships and social support.”

Al-Rabeeah listed out Saudi Arabia’s remarkable efforts towards hosting 12 million migrants from war-torn countries. For example, 5,61,911 Yemenis, 2,62,573 Syrians and 2,49,66 Burmese refugees are hosted by Saudi Arabia.

He said the KSRelief has financed 225 projects for women in various parts of the world at an estimated amount of $389 million and 224 projects for children worth $529 million. KSRelief has undertaken 1050 developmental projects in 44 countries worth $3.52 billion.
