Israel and Iran to have secret deals through Oman, reports confirm

A senior Israeli official who is well acquainted with the details of the visit, and who requested anonymity in order to discuss classified issues, said Oman could become a secret channel for Israel not just with Iran but also with Syria.

Jerusalem – Reports have confirmed that Israel and Iran are anticipating a back channel through Oman, after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu returned home on Friday paying a surprise visit to Oman.

Located at the bottom of the Arabian peninsula, Oman has Saudi Arabia in the north and Iran in the east, however, it maintains good ties with both the adversaries. Oman maintains absolute autonomy by rejecting Saudi Arabia’s blockade on Qatar and Saudi-led coalition in Yemen against Iran.

In 2013, Oman held secret talks between United States and Iran to negotiate Iran’s nuclear ambitions, and this time Israel sees Oman a conduit for its relations with Iran.

According to NYTimes, a senior Israeli official who is well acquainted with the details of the visit, and who requested anonymity in order to discuss classified issues, said Oman could become a secret channel for Israel not just with Iran but also with Syria.

The trip seems to be in reference to United States’ peace plan between Israel and Palestine, which may be announced soon.

Oman believes to negotiate a peace-deal between Israel and Palestine though it doesn’t possess a profile like that of Saudi Arabia to pull Israel on the negotiation table.

Israeli Arab affairs analyst – Ehud Ya’ari said – “Oman wants to be a mediator between Israel and the Palestinians. However, Israel doesn’t need anyone’s help to be able to talk to the Palestinians,” pointing to another role for Muscat, he said – “Oman is a pipeline to Tehran.”

“Countries go to Oman if they have a message to give to Iran,” added Ya’ari referring to a possible Israeli-Iranian alliance.

Netanyahu was accompanied by his wife, the director of Israel’s Mossad spy agency, senior officials from Israel’s National Security Council and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other defense officials.

“The visit was symbolic and extraordinary,” said Yoel Guzansky, an Israeli expert on the Gulf States and Iran at the Institute for National Security Studies at Tel Aviv University.

“Symbolism is very important in the Middle East,” he enthused.

Netanyahu has repeatedly expressed in the recent past that Israel has developed warm relations with several of its arch rivals in the region, despite no official relations, possibly referring to Iran. But he seldom publicizes these backdoor contracts and partners.

This week, while Qatar was hosting Israeli players in Doha and Oman was hosting Israeli premiers, Israel has brutally killed four Palestinians during a weekly protest at the Gaza border. After midnight, Israel shelled heavy bombs on the Palestinian civilians. No one seems to care about the Palestinian cause.

After Qatar and Turkey, Oman officially invites Israel

Muscat – In a surprise visit, Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has now officially visited Gulf state of Oman on Friday on an invitation from the Sultanate which happened first time in the 20-years.

Oman now proudly stands next to Qatar and Turkey to recognize Israel and officially invite Israeli premiers.

According to the Israeli PM’s office, Oman’s Sultan Qaboos bin Said pleaded Netanyahu to visit the country after conducting lengthy conversations.

Despite Israel and Oman do not hold proper diplomatic relations, a similar surprise visit was made by former Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin in 1994.

However, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas also paid a three-day visit to Oman earlier this week.

Oman sees itself a broker to hold peace-treaty between Palestine and Israel, but it lacks the power and influence like that of Saudi Arabia to pull Israel on the negotiation table with Palestine.

Along with Netanyahu joined his wife, head of Israeli Intelligence – Mossad, Foreign Ministry director, and other defense officials.

Oman and Israel issued a joint statement that – two sides “discussed ways to advance the Middle East peace process and discussed a number of issues of mutual interest to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East.”

Oman has always stood as passive power in the region. Though it belongs to the Gulf Cooperation Council, but it has declined to support Saudi-blockade of Qatar and Saudi-led coalition in Yemen against Iran.

Saudi-Arabia proposed Two-state solution to Israel back in 2002 to permanently resolve the Palestine and Israel disputes. However, Israel and Muslim Brotherhood backed Hamas refused to negotiate.

Qatar to officially invite Israel for FIFA 2022 and build stadium in Israel despite Palestine’s opposition

Doha – Qatar has officially declared that Israel will be participating in FIFA-2022 to be hosted in Doha despite the strong opposition from the Palestinians.

Hassan Abdulla al Thawadi, chief executive of the Qatar 2022 World Cup bid said, “All nations participating in the Fifa World Cup are welcome,” when asked about whether Israel would be allowed to participate if they qualified.

He also added that Qatar would allow alcohol consumption during the world’s most watched sporting event.

Adding an insult to the Palestinian’s injury, Qatar National Olympic Committee and the State of Israel co-funded the Doha Stadium in the Israeli city of Sakhnin located in the Galilee region of Israel.

The decision by the Qataris to build the stadium in Israel came after a meeting between Israeli parliamentarian Tibi and Secretary-General of the Qatar National Olympic Committee Sheikh Saud Abdulrahman Al Thani after Israel expressed concerns to build a Qatari stadium in Israel to establish official relations to reach similar interests.

Despite Palestinians’ plight Qatar paid no heed to block Israeli players landing on its soil.

In 2008, Israeli tennis player Shahar Pe’er played in Qatar and Israel was also invited in 2010 for Doha 2010 Indoor Championship.

Qatar has been an Israeli ally since 1996 despite no other Arab country has officially recognized Israel, despite Doha officially funds resistance group Hamas, it maintains diplomatic ties with Israel, leading to high-profile double-standards.

Former Israeli president Shimon Peres paid a high-profile visit to Doha in January 2007, and he also paid visit in 1996, when he launched the new Israeli trade bureau.

Also in January 2008, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak met the former Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifah al-Thani in Switzerland at the World Economic Forum.

JUSTICE: Insulting Prophet Mohammed in Europe can land you in jail, court declares

0

Austria – The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) passed the verdict on Thursday that insulting Islam’s Prophet Mohammed will be punishable offence and will not be counted under ‘freedom of expression’.

The court was compelled to pass the verdict after an Austrian woman Mrs. S insulted the Prophet in 2009 in two different seminars.

Panel of seven-judges said, defaming or demeaning the Prophet goes beyond permissible limits of an objective debate and could cause prejudice in the society and will risk religious peace.

The court said that the Mrs. S’ comments did not abide by freedom of expression, and stated that “the applicant’s statements had been likely to arouse justified indignation in Muslims” and “amounted to a generalization without factual basis.”

Austrian court trialed her in 2011 for disparaging religious doctrines and fined her 480 euros.

Based on Article-10 which permits freedom of expression, Mrs. S. complained that the domestic courts failed to address the substance of the impugned statements in the light of her right to freedom of expression.

However, ECHR today said,
On today’s ruling, the ECHR said “the domestic courts comprehensively assessed the wider context of the applicant’s statements and carefully balanced her right to freedom of expression with the right of others to have their religious feelings protected, and served the legitimate aim of preserving religious peace in Austria.”

German-based ‘SAP’ signs deal with Hajj Ministry for digital transformations

Riyadh – Saudi Arabia has signed an agreement with Germany’s leading enterprise software SAP on Wednesday at Future Investment Initiative to enrich the digital services provided to Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.

According to the deal, SAP will develop innovative cloud technologies to transform the operations required to host millions of pilgrims every year.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Dr. Mohammad Saleh bin Taher Benten – the Saudi minister of Hajj and Umrah, and Steve Tzikakis – SAP’s president of EMEA South.

The cloud-based technology will help Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to unify all its pilgrims related data which runs in collaboration with hundreds of travel agencies worldwide.

It helps ministry get real-time updates and insights into the pilgrim-travel experience.

The analysis will support ministry to enhance its crowd-management, transportation and logistics services, and also the health and safety of pilgrims.

“The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s digital transformation is aligned with our vision of making a pilgrim’s journey easy and predictable, within an environment of peace and tranquility,” said Benten.

“As the number of pilgrims on Hajj and Umrah grows steadily, we can easily scale up on the cloud to enhance our operations. This helps improve the effectiveness of both our staff and infrastructure in order to optimize travel experiences for all,” he added.

The advantage of moving to cloud-based technology will be to save around 25 to 50 percent potential costs, and it will reduce hardware costs as well.

“By using our real-time analytics and Internet of Things solutions in the cloud, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah can enhance travel processes, optimize transportation routes, and support digital payments for the more than 2 million pilgrims from 168 countries who arrive in Makkah each year,” said Khaled Alsaleh, the managing director of SAP Saudi Arabia.

“We are pleased to play an important role in supporting the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in providing a peaceful, more enjoyable and safe travel,” Alsaleh added.

The highly anticipated outcome of the FII is the SAP’s commitment to invest SR285 million i.e. $76 million for the next four years to help ministry reach its digital transformation.

Saudi crown prince at FII Riyadh summit on Wednesday committed to transform middle-East into a ‘new Europe’ in the next five-years and he is given dedicatedly to modernize the middle-East without shunning its Islamic values.

The Backdrop of Saudi-led Coalition for Yemen

The most cunning part of the story is, the Houthi slogan: “Death to America, Death to Israel and curse be upon the Jews”, but their target has never been Israel.

It all started during the time of second Caliph of Islam Umar ibn Khattab, when he liberated the second super power of his time Persia from the draconian fire-worshipping cult, and with the fall of the ancient Persian empire in the hands of the Muslim rulers, it instigated vengeance into their hearts.

To initiate their revenge the first suicide attack was made on the Caliph when he was leading prayers in the Prophet’s mosque, by a hired assassin known as Feroz Abu Lulu Nahavandi (his shrine is highly venerated religious place in Iran on the road from Kashan to Fins).

Later, Salahiddin Ayubi had to fight the Fatimi empire for a decade before he could liberate Jerusalem from the Crusaders.

Had it not been the treachery of Safavids, Ottomans would have conquered the western lands then.

In every age, Muslim nations have faced challenges from the snakes lurking in the green grass.

Iranian Expansion in Yemen

Iran has always spread its tentacles across the middle-East, with the primary agenda to capture oil-rich nations and make their governments unstable. It pumped millions of Iranian rials outside the region by strangling 11million hungry and homeless Iranian population.

With the pretentious gimmick played in the middle-East under the pretext of support for Palestinian cause, Iran could successfully launch its terror wings across the nations stealthily.

With the ultimate support of the grand-Daddy Obama and happy-faced Rouhani, Iran backed the Houthi rebels to invade Yemen.

Zaidi Shias are the minorities whose faith and methodology go side by side with the Sunni majority. As the matter of fact, Sunni-Zaidi inter-sect marriages took place in Yemen, as Zaidis don’t practice ‘Tabarra’ that is to curse the companions of the Prophet, but they simply hold the belief that Ali bin Abi-Talib had the upper-hand to become the Caliph after Prophet’s departure.

However they were recruited and indoctrinated in Iran to adopt the Ithna-Ashariya (Twelver Doctrine). Covert operations were carried out by the Houthis in Yemen in the areas like Sanah and Sadah, with the primary focus to establish Ithna-Ashariya law. Frequent uprisings to overthrow the government started, thus Yemen became instable.

Conduit of arms from Iran in Yemen surged a great impetus of power grab. Soon major cities of Yemen became recalcitrant.

The famous college of Hadith Sciences in Dammaj established by Shaykh Muqbil bin Haadi was was sieged and bombarded leaving bodies of the students and the teachers under the rubble.

According to the official media reports, more than 1400 minors were abducted from their homes to forcefully train them and induce them into the Houthi aggression against the Government. Distraught parents were robbed of their young children.

Saudi Intervention

On 4th November 2009, Houthis attacked the southern part of Saudi border, killing the border guards and capturing the Al-Khubah village and other villages.

However, after the death of the honorable King of Saudi, Abdullah bin Abdulazeez Al-e-Saud, Houthi aggression took peaks.

On 22nd January 2015, 8 days after the death of King Abdullah, Houthis attacked Yemeni President Abed Rabbo’s palace with heavy-shelling for half-an-hour, that led to his resignation but was declined by the parliament.

The instability in the region engendered Yemeni president to officially seek Saudi’s intervention to help stop the Houthi insurgencies.

On 21st April 2015, Saudi Government had to lead a bold step involving all the Sunni countries of the region to partake in the intervention to regain stability in the region, and to chase away the Iranian terror mongers.

Interestingly, Obama ordered drone attacks on the al-Qaida areas in Yemen, but never took interest in stopping the illegal Houthi expansion due to the fact that Iran and Israel have been internal allies for a common interest.

The ongoing battle has taken lives of over 119 Yemeni government forces, 263 Houthis, 277 civilians and 7 foreign civilians.

The most disturbing event that unfolded was the recruitment of minors in the Houthi army. A grief-stricken mother Maryam Qasim Ahmed covered in a documentary narrates her horror of losing her young son, who was found dead in a plastic bag. She reveals that over 1400 children are abducted and are forced into the Houthi army. She currently runs a door-to-door campaign to educate parents to protect their children from getting exploited by the Iranian-backed Houthis.

Saudi army could successfully hunt down Abdul-Kareem Mohammed Yahya al-Mufeedi who used his demagoguery to recruit innocent children in the army.

The most cunning part of the story is, the Houthi slogan: “Death to America, Death to Israel and curse be upon the Jews”, but their target has never been Israel.

The undeniable incident was the air-lift of 19 Yemeni Jews along with their Rabbi Saliman Dahari to Israel through the secret deal, the news was reported by JerusalemPost.Com, but it didn’t take the headlines rather it was brushed under the carpet.

Regarding causalities, most of the war reports come from pro-Houthi and Brotherhood media channels like al-Jazeera, MiddleEastEye, and MiddleEastMonitor who are infamous for spitting venom against the coalition. Casualties are part of any war when the insurgents move around among the civilians.

However, Saudi Arabia directly deposited $2 billion in the Yemeni Central Bank to promote economic stabilization and improve the Yemeni people’s quality of life. This is in addition to a $1 billion deposit that Saudi Arabia contributed in 2014.

On March 28, Saudi Arabia and the UAE gave $930 million to UN humanitarian efforts in Yemen.

Yemenis have appreciated Saudi-led coalition by calling it as an incumbent step to protect the borders from the demonic tentacles of Iran, who are known for their infinite enmity against the Sunni world.

Had Saudi-led coalition force not intervened, Yemen would turn into another Iran.

OPINION: Why blame Saudi Arabia all the time?

0

By Advocate PA Hameed Padubidri

They don’t even keep these pessimistic views to themselves but influence common people who haven’t been to Saudi Arabia ever. Exceptional cases are always magnified.

Let me tell about it since I have lived in Saudi Arabia for the past 15 years away from my home country and I was taught back home to honor other countries.

When it comes to honoring Saudi Arabia, we go beyond materialistic bucks, and this is my personal feeling. Today we live in Saudi Arabia, and we may be somewhere else tomorrow. However, our minds and hearts are more connected to this country because it’s the land of birth place of our beloved Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him, cradle of Islam and the two holy mosques, and a hub of great scholars.

But, we hold unrealistic expectations from Saudi Arabia. If something goes wrong, a list of blames comes up. Every media channel try best to stigmatize the image of this country through their warfare. Even a minute accident is given a hype as if it doesn’t happen anywhere on the planet.

Unfortunately, some Muslim and Arab countries and their people too accelerate this warfare.

People from different walks of life – from taxi drivers, barbers to white-collared professionals leave no space to lambast Saudi Arabia.

I noticed this phenomena and argued with some people, who have been in the Kingdom for the past 25 to 30 solid years and they have made enough wealth back home, but they still portray Saudi Arabia and Saudi citizens in a negative light.

They don’t even keep these pessimistic views to themselves but influence common people who haven’t been to Saudi Arabia ever. Exceptional cases are always magnified.

I don’t hold the view that Saudi Arabia is totally free from all vices & bad elements. It’s like any other country on the planet. Like every country has good and bad aspects, and good and bad people, so does Saudi Arabia. Why do we see it as a ‘heaven’ and the Saudis as ‘angels’?

Even the most advanced countries from the east to west have highest rates of evil, the crime rates are high and soaring when compared to Saudi Arabia. Matter of fact is, some countries lack basic safety and security of citizens, where people are scared of their own shadows.

Horrendous crimes like rape, murder, robbery and drug-addictions are very least in the Kingdom compared to any other country. Then why all blames passed on Saudi Arabia?

Western media have left no stone unturned to tarnish the image of Saudi Arabia inside and outside of it. Their methods are very shady and deceptive.

In conclusion, I say, I have always held high regards for Saudi Arabia, however, we can’t expect any country or people to be 100% flawless.

Let us cooperate with the system, law of the land, and top of all – Islamic values that has always kept us connected to Makkah and Madeenah.
