Pakistan arrests top extremist Sufi cleric for creating intolerant environment

Lahore – A top extremist Sufi cleric of Pakistan and his supporters were arrested by Lahore Police on Friday for causing everyday nuisance by disturbing daily Pakistani life.

52-years-old, Khadim Hussain Rizvi, chairman of a Lahore-based extremist party Tahreek-e-Labbaik and his supporters were arrested for holding illegal rallies and protests against the Government for exonerating a Christian lady – Asia Bibi –  from blasphemy charges.

The rallies and protests were unnecessarily affecting the poor daily wage labors, shop-keepers, street hawkers, and a regular normal life.

On 31 October, Supreme Court of Pakistan acquitted Asia Bibi who has been on the death row since 2010 for insulting the Islam and the Prophet.

The Supreme court decision angered Rizvi and his supporters, and they held violent protests for three days. However, Rizvi ended protests after authorities promised that Bibi will not be able to leave Pakistan until a petition against her acquittal was reviewed.

In November 2017, Rizvi organized protests for the resignation of law minister, for which he received criticisms for creating an environment of intolerance. The Pakistani community was shocked by his crude and abusive usage of language.

RELIGIOUS POLITICS: Shiv Sena chief to perform Puja in Ayodhya ahead of 2019 elections

Ayodhya – Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and his family arrived in Ayodhya for an event to demand construction of Ram Temple at the disputed site of Babri Mosque ahead of 2019 elections.

High security arrangements have been made to prevent any kind of communal clashes.

Two different events will take place in Ayodhya in the next two days, first one will be held by Shiv Sena followed by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).

According to the local media reports, he has brought soil from the Shivneri fort in Pune in order to hand it over to the chief priest or ‘Mahant’ who occupies the disputed site.

Thackeray will perform special prayers, and will speak to pujaris, saints and the locals to politicize the situation to demand the construction of Ram Temple.

VHP claimed that their Sunday’s event which is called as Dharma Sansad or religious gathering will be one of the biggest gathering of saints at the disputed site since 1992.

However, VHP claimed that the participants at the event will be “disciplined people” whose sole agenda is to expedite the construction of the Ram temple.

Thackeray said on Friday to the Government, that BJP should be proud of Shiv Sainiks who demolished the Babri Mosque in Ayodhya in 1992.

Right-wing Hindu activists emotionally believe that Babri Mosque was a place where their deity Ram was born, and the temple was demolished by Moghal ruler – Babur – in order to build a mosque.

Based on the devotional evidences, Shiv Sainiks demolished the mosque in 1992 which lead to nation-wide communal clashes.

However, Supreme Court of India has denied any decision to be taken based on Aastha or devotion, rather the decision will be based on pure facts and evidences.

Saudi Arabia declares the launch of Family Taxis with Female Drivers

Riyadh – The much awaited decision of allowing female drivers to run family taxis in Saudi Arabia, has been made on Wednesday by the Public Transport Authority (PTA) of Saudi Arabia.

Special licenses are provided to the female drivers under the condition that no male or young male child are allowed to occupy the seat next to the driver, however they are permitted to carry male passenger in the backseat.

The family taxis should not be older than five years and the transport company should at least have 10 family taxis to operate in a city, and the licenses cannot be registered individually rather under transport companies.

The taxis should have screens displaying all relevant details including driver’s name, company’s name and plate number. Electronic payment system and GPS navigation system are also mandatory features in the taxis.

As a part of vision-2030, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman lifted the female driving ban in June and has allowed women to work with dignity in all major industrial sectors.

EMOTIONAL: The “Married Bachelors” of the Gulf Countries

0

by Biju Mathew

These men chose to work away from their families so that the latter can lead a decent life back home.

‘Married bachelors’ is a strange nomenclature. Who coined the term, no one seems to know, but there are thousands of ‘married bachelors’ in the UAE.

Who are these ‘married bachelors’? They are normal people staying away from their wife and children due to financial constraints or certain family commitments.

They are mainly found among low and middle income workers

You find them in all parts of the world, working and living far away from their homes and families. These men chose to work away from their families so that the latter can lead a decent life back home. ‘Married bachelors’ are in all strata of society, but mainly in the low and middle income brackets and rarely in the high-income groups.

Joy Thomas is one among them. Unlike what his name indicates, Joy Thomas is not a happy man anymore. This middle-income expatriate, who hails from the south Indian state of Kerala and works as a software developer for a private company in the UAE, has sent his wife and children back home recently. “Children are growing up, their needs are increasing, putting a strain on my finances. I had no other option but to resettle my family back home,” said Thomas, without elaborating much about the relocation.

Fortunately, Thomas can afford to lead a decent life and visit his family back home often. But that is not the case of millions of others worldwide. There are about 150 million migrant workers around the world, according to a United Nations study. While half of the migrant workers are concentrated in northern America and northern, southern and western Europe, the Arab states are not far behind with almost 36 per cent.

Lack of jobs in their home countries and the desire to lead a better life drive most of the migrant workers to far off lands. But that wasn’t the reason why Sanjay Jaiswal landed in the UAE. It was wanderlust that drove Jaiswal, who is from the north Indian state of Bihar, to the shores of UAE. Before finding a job in Dubai as a civil engineer and marrying a Filipina, Jaiswal worked in Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

Adventurer turned cautious migrant

“Those were the happy days. The adventurer in me is slowly becoming cautious and the desire to make more money and migrate to Australia forced me to send my wife and child to Philippines. I visit them as often as I can, but I am now living alone,” said Jaiswal with a tinge of sadness.

“Honestly, I don’t like being called ‘married bachelor’. It was a choice I made, though with some difficulty. To achieve something, you have to give up something. Well, I do miss my wife and kid very much, but the thought that it is only temporary keeps me going,” explained Jaiswal.

Jaiswal is educated and focused on his goals, but that’s not the case with thousands of migrant workers around the world and the UAE. Most ‘married bachelors’ in the UAE are living away from their families mainly due to financial constraints, family commitments and debt. There are hundreds of nationalities from around the world in the UAE, staying away from their families in the hope of creating a brighter future.

Endless tale of separation in bachelor pads

Among them, those in the low-income bracket suffer the most. Unlike Jaiswal and Thomas, they can’t afford to visit their families back home often. Life is an endless tale of separation in bachelor pads for these workers. They go on family visits back home in two years, sometimes more, a decision they made to save money.

Forced to relocate family

Alone, all alone, emptiness and longing creep in with the passing of time for most of these ‘married bachelors ‘. Until recently, Saju Varughese was a happy man. The small-time businessman with a fledgling family lived a happy life in a two-bedroom apartment in Sharjah.

Times do change rapidly and with expanding family and rising cost of living, Varughese, like many other expatriates in the UAE, was forced to relocate his family back to his home state Kerala, bringing in a touch of sadness to his daily life.

Silence and sadness

Silence descended on Varughese’s once-buzzing house. Cacophony of children and their constant demands faded. Sound of happiness paved way to emptiness and loneliness. “I was terrified during the recent killer floods that hit Kerala. I waited three days anxiously for some information about my family,” said the businessman, narrating the harrowing time his family went through during the devastating floods in Kerala that killed nearly 500 people and cost the state more than $2 billion in damages. Varughese is among the hundreds in the UAE who wept in silence during the floods in Kerala.

‘Married bachelors’ are not unique to the UAE, the term could be. However, at the end of the day, whether married or unmarried, what unites migrant workers moving out of developing countries is the desire ‘to make more money’.

Suicide attack in Kabul kills 43 Muslim Scholars, while 83 are injured

Kabul – A deadly suicide attack on Tuesday in Kabul killed at least 43 Muslim scholars and injured around 83 people who gathered in a convention hall for a religious conference.

A suicide bomber sneaked into the convention hall with a waist-bomb and detonated himself resulting in a powerful explosion leaving the bodies of Muslim scholars torn apart into tiny pieces spread all over the hall.

Afghan Ulema body has denied any media reports attempting to create rifts among Afghan Muslims by giving it a sectarian “Wahabbi vs Sunni” color.

More than 20 people seem to be in critical condition while death toll is increasing, Public Health Ministry spokesperson, Wahid Majroh said.

Interior Ministry Spokesman, Najib Danish said, “the suicide bomber was able to sneak into a wedding hall in Kabul where hundreds of religious scholars and clerics had gathered for a conference.”

So far no terrorist organization has claimed the attacks, however, a local ISIS affiliated group has targeted Muslim scholars who were associated with the government in the past. Based on the past attacks, the affiliated groups are speculated.

Kabul Police Chief, Basir Mujahid said, “Police had not been asked to provide security for the event, and that the bomber had easily slipped into the hall. Most wedding halls have private security.”

“Most unfortunately all the victims of the attack were Muslim scholars,” added Mujahid.

The waiter at the convention hall, Mohammed Muzammil, was the first-hand witness of the attack, who had gone into the back to get water-cans for the scholars when he heard a heavy explosion. No sooner he came running, he saw everything was smoggy.

“There were dead bodies all around the chairs, in large numbers”, Muzammil said.

Distressed family members and relatives of the scholars have gathered in the hospital to track the list hanged outside the hospital about those who were killed and wounded in the blast.

In the meanwhile, Police and Army have been deputed to stop all the roads leading to the blast site.

In the June ISIS attacks against Muslim scholars of Afghanistan, the attackers accused scholars of being “scholars for dollars” or “paid Mullahs” for supporting Afghan government by calling peace-talks and prosperity of the country.

The organizations like Ikhwanul-Muslimeen, Al-Qaida, ISIS, Hezbollah, and their affiliated factions deem every Muslim scholar who calls for obeying the governments fit to be killed since “scholars have aligned with the tyrants” and “eventually left Islam.”

Most of the terrorists ascribe to “Wahabbi” ideology, however, the leading Salafi scholars of Saudi Arabia like Abdulazeez Bin Baaz and Shaykh Mohammed Uthaymeen issued grand fatwas declaring suicide-missions to be absolutely forbidden and a path to eternal hellfire.

FAKE NEWS: a brief history and how agencies used it to overthrow Governments

By Amir Tahiri

The more regular human history is full of fake news.

A penchant for claiming credit for almost everything is already established as a trait of President Donald Trump’s public persona. America’s surprisingly robust economy, the biggest tax cut in US history, naming two Supreme Court judges in the first term, and increasing, in a midterm election, the incumbent’s majority in the Senate for the first time in 105 years are some of the events for which Trump takes credit.

One may quibble about all that but none could flatly reject Trump’s claim of credit. One issue on which something more than quibbling may be in order is Trump’s claim of being the first to discover fake news. For fake news dates back to the very origins of the human story.

Wasn’t the claim of the tempter that partaking of the forbidden fruit shall have only beneficial consequences a piece of fake news?

The more regular human history is full of fake news.

In 522 BC after the death of Persian Emperor Cambyses, a group of power-hunters led by Darius spread the fake news that the man who had succeeded Cambyses was not his brother and rightful heir Bardia but a usurper. The group then staged a putsch, killed the “fake Bardia” and gave the crown to its own chief Darius.

A bigger piece of fake news came in the shape of the yarn woven around Alexander the Great, the invincible conqueror. He is supposed to have lived to the ripe old age of 33.

In just 10 years, the Macedonian is supposed to have conquered almost all of the then known world from the Balkans Peninsula to Russia to the Indian Ocean and from North Africa to the Indian Subcontinent, Central Asia and China. That involves a distance of around 40,000 kilometers, allez-retour, which means he would have been traveling quite a bit. And, yet, he is supposed to have built 20 cities named after himself, taken four wives (long before Islam) and “disappeared” for an unknown length of time looking for the fountain of eternal youth.

That there is no contemporaneous account of those marvelous deeds has persuaded some historians to doubt the existence of such a character which first appeared in Greek and Latin literature in 160 AD, that is to say, centuries after the claimed events.

During the Abbasid caliphate, based in Baghdad, the fake news was spread by professional raconteurs known as “qas’ in Arabic, hence the proverb “al-qas la yahub al-qas” (ranconteur doesn’t like raconteur!). Under the Caliph Wathiq, Baghdad counted more than 100 “qas” some of whom made fortunes spreading the fake news for rich and powerful patrons.

Russian history is full of fake tsars, collectively known as pseudo-Dimitrius who appeared during the “time of troubles” to claim the crown. They used the media of their time, largely consisting of priests preaching in churches and traveling merchants. Often the result was a popular revolt or civil war.

At times, the fake news could help bring peace. In the 15th century Spain and Portugal, ruled by two cousins, were often at war. Peace was established when the Portuguese king granted a reportedly rich Mediterranean island to his Spanish cousin. It didn’t matter that such an island didn’t exist and that the map presented to the Spanish was one of Serendip, now known as Ceylon in the Indian Ocean. The Spanish potentate could claim victory and have a parade.

More recently, the fake news was used to promote the French Revolution of 1789. Revolutionary leaders claimed that the Bastille prison was full of “heroic fighters for the people.” But when the building was captured it contained only seven prisoners, all of them ordinary criminals.

The revolutionaries spread many fake news items against Queen Marie Antoinette, including the one about her necklace which later inspired Alexander Duma swashbuckling yarns.

When the tide turned fake news was used against leaders of the revolution. Robespierre, the most radical of revolutionary leaders, was accused of having married the daughter of Louis XVIth in secret as the first step to claiming the crown. As a reward, he got the guillotine.

The tsarist secret service, Okhrana, perfected fake news into an art. Its masterpiece was the so-called Protocols of the Elders of Zion which has served in many conspiracy theories for over a century.

In 1879 the Prussian Chancellor Bismarck used a doctored version of a conversation between his King and the French Ambassador over the Spanish royal succession in order to provoke the French into a war. The fake version came in the form of the notorious “Ems telegram”. The French took the bait and lost the war along with Alsace and Lorraine provinces.

In Britain, the so-called Zinoviev Letter, named after the then leader of the Comintern, remains an example of fake news. It was published by the Daily Mail just four days before the 1924 election to foment anxiety that Communists, controlled by Moscow, were plotting to seize power through the Labour Party if it won a majority in the House of Commons.

Back to Iran, the fake news was used to promote the fable about a CIA operative named Kermit Roosevelt overthrowing Dr. Muhammad Mussadeq’s government in a 1953 coup by spending $18,000, the cheapest regime change in history.

In her memoirs, Tahia Kazem, the widow of Egyptian President Gamal Abdul Nasser recalls a trip to Yugoslavia when her husband was informed that the CIA plotted to capture him at sea on his way back home. That fake news was concocted by the Soviets and spread through Muhammad Hassanein Heikal, then Nasser’s media aides. The aim was to have Nasser flown to Moscow and thence to Cairo, casting the USSR as the protector.

Fake news does not always have political or religious aims. It could also be used to make a fast buck. In 1977 a Belgian company persuaded French President Valery Giscard d’Estaing that it had developed an aircraft that could discover oilfields by simply sniffing them. The Frenchman swallowed the wallop and coughed out 800 million francs, enabling the fakers to disappear substantially richer.

Want more? Well, go and fetch popcorn and lemonade to watch more of this three-ring circus that is politics.

ONE VOTE: How a single Vote has changed victory to loss in Five Indian Elections

Ask Mahant Bharatdas Darshandas, the lone voter in Gujarat’s Gir forest who votes in every election. To ensure that he is able to vote, the Election Commission of India sets up a polling station in the forest solely for him. To him, the single vote matters. Darshandas is, however, an exception to the general rule.

We may be the world’s largest democracy, yet, as a country, we don’t seem to be too convinced about the power of the vote. That is why, even 70 years after independence, low voter turnouts are still a thing in India. At times, we even tend to shift the responsibility of keeping our democracy healthy on the person-next-door.  However, as much as one would like to believe that one vote isn’t going to change anything in the country, there have been times in the history of our nation where a vote has altered the course of an election. Don’t believe us? Here are five such instances:

Karnataka Assembly Elections (2004): A R Krishnamurhthy of Janata Dal (Secular) lost to R Dhruvanarayan of Congress by just one vote. They got 40751 and 40752 votes respectively while contesting the Santhemarahalli (Sc) constituency. And here is the kicker: Krishnamurthy had stopped his own driver from voting!

Rajasthan Assembly Elections (2008): State Congress Chief C.P. Joshi lost to Kalyan Singh Chouhan of BJP by a single vote, with Joshi polling 62215 votes against  62216 votes being polled by Chouhan. Had Joshi’s own mother, wife, and driver turned up to vote, Joshi could have won!

Mohali Municipal Corporation Elections (2015): Kulwinder Kaur Rangi of Congress again won by a margin of just one vote against Nirmal Kaur, of the Akali Dal rebel Kulwant Singh-led ‘Azad group’.

BMC Election (2017): In the recently concluded municipal elections in Mumbai, candidates contesting ward no. 220 got to understand the importance of a single vote first hand. In the election, the seat first went to Surendra Bagalkar of the Shiv Sena. However, when the  BJP candidate Atul Shah demanded a recount, it was found that both candidates had polled the same number of votes – 5,946. Shah finally won the seat based on a lottery. But had a single person voted in either’s favour, the result could have been different!

Motion Of Confidence Vote, Lok  Sabha (1999): Not exactly a vote by the janta, but when Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee moved a motion of confidence in the parliament to prove he had the support of the majority, his 13-month old government fell for want of just 1 vote.

And that, friends, is the difference one vote can make in a democracy!

Gharib Ladki ki Shaadi

by Sajid Holy

Aaj masjid ke darwaze par shaadi kar card le kar logo ke saamne hath phailae hue khadi hai, mahaz isliye ke us ladke se uska nikha tay hua hai. Yeh nikaah hai ya zillat aur musibat ka aaghaaz?

“Waqayi Allaah kisi qaum ki haalat ko nahin badalta jab tak woh khud apni haalat ko na badle, aur jab Allaah kisi quam par museebat daalna chaahe to us ke hatne ki koi soorat nahi, aur Allaah ke siwa koi unka madad-gaar nahih rehta.”  (Surah Ar-Ra’d 13:11)

Ladki aur uske walidain / rishtedaaron ki ma’aashi haalat kharab hai, unki yeh ghurbat, bebasi, lachari aur mohtaaji is duniya ke aarzi masaail hain, jo maut se saath khatm ho jayenge. Yeh unke liye aazmaaish hai. Yeh tajjub ki baat nahi ki aise masaail se ghira insaan, shadi byah wagairah ke mauko par logo ke saamne haath phailane par majboor ho jata hai. Yeh fitri chiz hai. Lekin aham sawal yaha par chaar hain:

Ek to yeh ki taawoon ki darkar rakh kar woh garib family ladki ki shaadi mein kis par, kitna aur kyon kharch karti hai? Agar waqai me zarooriyat-e-zindagi ke asbaab unhe mayassar nahi aur logo se woh aisi chizo par kharch karne ke liye madad talab karte hain jiske bagair guzara nahi ho sakta to phir thik hai.

Is par tambeeh nahi ki jaa sakti.

Jee ha, yahi to hai!! Us be-ghairat ladke ke gharwalo ne bilkul naa-jaiz condition rakhi hai, ki agar rishta hoga to maal o mataa ki buniyad par hoga. Agar list me likhi sari chize dulhe ko faraham ki jaye, tab hi mamla set hoga, warna nahi. Ajeeb saude baazi hai, aur dar-asl yeh saudebaazi is note ka topic nahi, balki musibat yeh hai ki log zakat aur sadka samajh kar tawoon karenge aur phir woh paisa aise naakaara aur na’maqool beghairat insaan ke mooh me thoonsa jayega jo yeh kehta hai ki shadi ki buniyad par yeh paisa mere education, meri personality, mere status, mere khaandaan aur mujhse talluk qayam karne ki keemat hai!! Kya waqai yeh aapki charity ka fair investment hai? Kya waqai is tarha ka mutalba karne wale “musta’hiq” ki category mein aate hain?

Hume pata hai ki logo ke intentions ko jaan’na aasan nahi aur hadith ka bhi mafhoom hai ki ek insaan kisi zaani aurat ko, phir kisi chor ko phir kisi maaldaar ko anjaane me khairaat de deta hai to usse kaha jata hai ki woh yeh na samjhe ki uska diya hua maal zaya ho gaya, balki uski niyyat sadka karne ki thi, uska sawab use zaroor ba zaroor milega. in sha Allah. Lekin shaadiyo ke naam par logo se maal ikat’tha karne ka yeh system samaaj me nasoor ki tarha kuch is tarha phair chuka hai ki authenticity ka percentage kam se kam hota ja raha hai, aur ghehu ke sath ghun bhi pis jata hai.

Doosra sawal yeh hai, ki woh ladki jo kuchh dino baad jis ladke ki nikaah me aane wali hai, uske aadhe deen ko mukammal karne wali hai, uski nasl ko aage badhane wali hai, uske ghar ki raunak banne wali hai, woh ladki (ya uske koi rishtedaar) aaj masjid ke darwaze par shaadi kar card le kar logo ke saamne hath phailae hue khadi hai, mahaz isliye ke us ladke se uska nikha tay hua hai. Yeh nikaah hai ya zillat aur musibat ka aaghaaz? Us ladke ki ghairat, uska self respect, uska common sense kaha gaya? Kya waqai me uski aql maari gayi hai? Jee ha bilkul!

Use itna bhi sha’oor nahi ki usne ya uske gharwalo ne ladki se bejaa mutalabon ki jhadi barsa kar ladki aur uske gharwalo ko beizzati aur zillat ki dehleej par laa kar khada kar diya hai? Phir kaun se mooh se woh sherwani pehan kar baatees dant dikha kar stage par khada ho kar mubarakbaadiya qubool karta hai?

Us zaalim ne to ladki aur uske gharwalo ki zindagi me ek toofan barpa kar diya, jo insan bhook se tadapne ke bawajood aur maut ke qareeb hone ke bawajood bhi kabhi kisi ke saamne hath phailane ki jurrat nahi karta tha, aaj woh logo ke samne mahaz isliye haath phaila raha hai ki usne is bewakoof ladke se apni beti ka rishta tay kiya hai?

Kya isi ko “qawwam” aur “rijaal” kaha jata hai? Hargiz nahi!! Zaroorat hai ki is qaum ka naujawan ba’shaoor ho, jaage, aur is ghaleez system ko band kare aur karwaye. Agar nahi kar sakta to phir woh apne “mard” hone ke daawe aur bharam ko chhood kar choodiyan pahan le.

Teesri baat yeh hai ki is saari system aur bawaal ke zimmedaar hum khud hain. Hame chahiye ki sabse pehle to society me is rasm o riwaaj ko band karwayeh aur shuruaat apne ghar se karen.

Jo insan hamesha apne aap ko tawheed parast kehta hai, aise mauko par nafs ko apna mabood bana leta hai.

Yeh society culture aur maujooda muaashra hai, jo israaf se badh kar tabzeel tak pahuch jata hai, aur logo ladki walo ki taqreebat ko shadi ka lazim hissa qarar de dete hain aur samajhte hain ki iske baghair shaadi mumkin nahi.

“Log kya kahenge” ka shoshaa humne hi chhoda hai aur ab woh bandar ki dum me aag lagane ka kaam kar chuka hai. Yeh aag phair chuki hai. Zarurat hai ek zaheen fire brigade aur fire extinguisher ki. Shadiyon ke functions ko muzayyan karke high society walo ne middle class aur lower middle class ko bhi majboor kar diya hai, ki woh samajne lage hain, ki hamari bachhi ki shaadi bhi fala fala rasm o riwaj ka bagair nahi ho sakti. Yeh tasawwur saare maujooda muslim muaashre ke mooh par zordaar tamacha hai jisne dawa to salaf ki pairwi ka kiya lekin jab khushi ka mauka aaya to pick and choose ka deen apna liya.

Chauthi aur aakhir baat. Woh ladki jis par ladke aur uske ghar walo ne naa sirf shaadi ke waqt balki nikah ke baad bhi waqtan ba waqtan dahej ke naam par sitam dhaya hai, uski nazar me apne shauhar ka kya izzat o waqaar reh jayega?

Aakhirat ke roz biwi se pucha jayega shauhar ke akhlaaq aur qirdaar ke bare mein. Uski gawahi mana rakhti hai. Tawheed aur huqooqullah ke baad insan ki qamyabi ka us par daromadar isi par hai ki woh apne gharwalo se sath kaise pesh aya tha. Yaha to mahar se pichha chhudane ke khwahishmand bhi bahut hai. Huqooq ul ibaad ke sath aisa khilwaad? Goya ki nikah ki sunnat ko hi nahi balki nizam e zindagi ko bhi mazak bana kar rakh diya.

Jab shauhar apni biwi ko lekar air conditioned car aur bunglow me aish kar raha hoga to kya baar baar us aurat ke samne apne majboor maa baap ka chehra nahi aayega, jinho ne zillat o khwari jhel kar aise insan se uska nikah karwaya?

Sawalo ki fehrist lambi hai, lekin saare jawab aapke paas maujood hai. Allah hum sabko nek tawfeek ata farmaye, khurafat se door rakhe aur hidayat’yafta logo me hamara shumar farmaye.

Miladun Nabi: a non-Islamic ritual with emotional evidences

0

by Naweed Hassan

In this article, we will understand when it comes to following a religion how emotions followed by arrogance and lack of knowledge blinds people from seeing the reality.

Muslims in order to display their love for the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) celebrate his birthday on not so accurate birth date, 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal (Islamic Month).

Debate over Prophet’s actual date of birth

Although there is a huge difference amongst the Islamic scholars concerning the actual date of birth of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Some scholars have said it is in Ramadan, some have believed it to be in Shaban and according to some scholars, and it’s in Rabi ul awwal but on different dates (8th or 9th or 12th), based on the fact that Hijri calendar didn’t exist during his birth.

Date of Prophet’s death

But one thing that all Islamic scholars have unanimously agreed upon is the death date of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) which is confirmed to be 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal.

Are Muslims celebrating Prophet’s death day?

Now the question that arises in our minds is that “Are Muslims who tend to celebrate the prophet’s birthday out of love, unknowingly celebrating the prophet’s death day?” Note that this is a very dangerous matter and Muslims soon need to take heed and repent for their wrongdoing, to avoid the wrath of Allah the Almighty, the all-knowing, the most powerful.

Who introduced the celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday?

According to the authentic traditions and sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), the best centuries in Islam are the first three centuries since Islam was revealed. It contained the best of people who followed Islam in the best manner as taught by the messenger of Allah Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), his companions being the top most in the list, and that list started with the four rightly guided caliphs of Islam (Abu Bakr Siddique, Umar Farooq, Othman-e-Ghani, Ali Karamullah Wajhu – May Allah be pleased with all of them) who sacrificed their lives, wealth and desires for the love of the messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and Islam.

None of the above foresaid people and generations celebrated the Prophet’s birthday and neither the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) himself celebrated nor did he command the celebration on his birth day.

What many Muslims don’t know?

The Shiite Fatimids introduced the celebration of the prophet’s death day by calling it the prophet’s birthday celebration and many innocent Muslims belonging to various sects contribute to this deviant Shiite ideology and err.

Now a days you may find even a non-muslim organization or media houses (who generally are anti-Islam and against the Islamic practices for all false reasons) are promoting the celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday and a good number of Muslims mostly from the sub-continent imitate those non-Muslims blindly, instead of following the foot-steps of the messenger of Islam (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his companions.

What is highly recommended?

To really understand the concept of Eid in Islam one must refer to the authentic traditions and teachings of the Prophet.

I sincerely pray to Allah the Almighty, the most compassionate, the most merciful to guide all the Muslims to His straight path upon the way of His last and final Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

For the last half-a-century, the Charminar Assembly segment in the southern part of the city has not only been a strong bastion of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), but has also turned out to be a stepping stone to the Indian Parliament for two generations of the Owaisi family.

The party won the Charminar seat for the first time in 1967 and since then, it sort of became an AIMIM citadel which opponents, despite best efforts and trying out various strategies, have failed to breach.

This time around, senior party leader Mumtaz Ahmed Khan is testing his luck from the seat.

AIMIM leader the late Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi bagged the seat in 1967 and made his debut as a legislator. He won the seat then by defeating Bharatiya Jan Sangh (BJS) candidate CL Meghraj by a margin of 7,500 votes. Since then, the party’s firm grip on the constituency ensured its victory even in the toughest of times.

The Charminar seat was a launch pad for party president Asaduddin Owaisi too. In fact, Asaduddin made his debut in full-fledged politics after he contested and won the Charminar seat in 1994. He defeated MBT candidate Hussain Shaheed by a margin of 40,544 votes in an election which had a total of 19 candidates and 17 of them forfeiting their deposits. Asaduddin contested from the seat again in 1999 and won.

Interestingly, after representing the Charminar assembly constituency, both Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi and Asaduddin Owaisi moved over to the Parliament.

During the delimitation of constituencies in 2009, Charminar was bifurcated with a part of it transferred to the newly carved out Bahadurpura assembly constituency. After the delimitation, Ahmed Pasha Quadri won the seat defeating TDP candidate Ali Bin Ibrahim Masqati by 10,695 votes and in 2014, he defeated TDP candidate MA Basith.

The highest polling percentage in Charminar Assembly constituency recorded so far was in the year 1983 at 81.37 percent.

This time around, AIMIM leader Mumtaz Ahmed Khan, who previously successfully held the Yakutpura seat is contesting from here and his close rival is expected to be Congress candidate Mohammed Ghouse, who quit from AIMIM and joined Congress a few years ago.

Salar and the revival of AIMIM

Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, popularly known as Salar, meaning commander or leader, was the man who restructured and shaped the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen as a full-fledged and effective political party.

Lead actively by him, the party first won a seat in the municipal election from Mallepally in 1960. In the next two years, it contested Assembly elections and won the Pathergatti Assembly seat in 1962.

SS Owaisi, after the victory, gathered together eminent members of the community and the party started contesting from multiple seats.

In 1962, Salahuddin won from the Pathergatti Assembly seat as an independent candidate and later won from the Charminar constituency in 1967 which he represented till 1984. He then entered the Parliament winning the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat in 1984 and setting a record of sorts with six straight terms.
The AIMIM suffered a setback in 1993 when its legislator Amanullah Khan ‘revolted’ against the party, charging it of adopting a weak stand on the Babri Masjid demolition issue. He was suspended by the party.

Khan took away Yakutpura legislator Mumtaz Ahmed Khan and floated the Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT). In the elections held in 1994, the strength of AIMIM slipped from the earlier 4 seats to just one i.e., Charminar, while two seats it earlier held were won by MBT candidates, Amanullah Khan and Mumtaz Ahmed Khan.

Salar did pull the party strength back into shape soon. He died in 2008 and since then, his son Asaduddin Owaisi is the president of the AIMIM.
