Daughter of a Saudi King who donated $1 Million for a Mosque at Historically Black College in America

In 1981, the daughter of the Late King Khalid ibn Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud of Saudi Arabia made a generous donation of $1,000,000 US to Shaw University for the building of an Islamic and International Studies Center, including a Masjid, Library, Lecture Halls, and Offices.

Shaw University – called the mother of African-American colleges in North Carolina is the first HBCU in the Southern United States. The Indigenous Muslims to this area, primarily African-American, have served as care-takers and Imams of this Masjid.

When King Khalid Mosque opened on August 19, 1983 the immigrant Muslims who attended North Carolina State University—just 3.3 miles up the road, did not have a Masjid; rather they were still praying in an apartment complex. The king’s daughter donated one million dollars to Shaw University—the HBCU; not N.C. State University a primarily white university.

It was a black man— former Shaw University president Talbert O. Shaw; who vehemently attempted to close the Masjid doors forever. An agreement was reached in 2004 to keep the Masjid open, but the university appropriated the entire bottom floor and part of the second floor.

The king’s daughter put the Masjid in the heart of an African American community, just eight minutes from where I was born and raised. This is the first Masjid I visited while still a non-Muslim on military leave. This is the first Masjid opened in the cities of Raleigh and Durham.

As for the false narrative ‘the Saudis don’t contribute to our African American communities’ then we say as Hasān ibn Yazid may Allah have mercy upon him said: “We don’t use anything against the liars comparable to history!”

So praise Allah and show some gratitude to His slaves.

Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him said: “Whoever does not show gratitude to the people has not shown gratitude to Allah”.

May Allah reward the king’s daughter with abundant good for her contribution.

Saudi Scholars are more matured than me, says Yusuf Qardawi while slamming Iran and Hezbollah

0

Renowned scholar of the fascist organization Muslim Brotherhood Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi has slammed Iran and Hezbollah for supporting the Syrian regime of Bashar Assad.

Speaking at a festival in Doha six years ago, Qaradawi regretted: “I kept calling for years (for efforts) to bridge the gap between sects, and traveled to Iran during the era of former President Mohammad Khatami (but) these fanatics (in Iran) and hard-liners want to disempower the Sunnis. They deceived me and deceived many others like me by saying that they too want to bridge the differences.”

He added: “Years ago, I defended Hassan Nasrallah, who has named his party Hezbollah, although it is indeed a party of idols and party of devils who are defending Assad.”

“Several years ago, I stood against the great ulema and scholars in Saudi Arabia, urging them to support Hezbollah, but Saudi sheikhs were more mature and more visionary than me, because they knew the (Iranians and Hezbollah) for being liars. They call him Nasrallah,” said Qaradawi, “but he supports injustice and falsehood, and he came to kill Sunnis (in Syria).”

“Every Muslim trained to fight and capable of doing that (must) make himself available” to support the Syrian fighters, he said.

Over 3,000 encounters, 78 killed in the first 16 months of Yogi regime

0

The UP state police, in the first 16 months of the Yogi Adityanath government, recorded more than 3,000 encounters in which at least 78 criminals were gunned down. Yogi Adityanath took charge as chief minister on March 19, 2017. An official in the DGP office said the data in question was recorded between March 2017 and July 2018.

The figure of encounters, the killing of criminals, and arrests has made it to a list of government achievements to be publicised on Republic Day in the state. UP Chief Secretary Anup Chandra Pandey has sent the communication to all districts magistrates ahead of Republic Day with a list of the achievements of the government.

The letter says a statewide campaign was being run to arrest wanted criminals for an effective control on crime. As per the letter, there were 3,026 encounters till July 2018. In these encounters, 69 criminals were gunned down, 7,043 criminals were arrested, and 838 criminals sustained injuries. The letter claims that in the same period, 11,981 criminals had their bail canceled and surrendered in courts.

The letter adds that the Special Task Force (STF) gunned down nine other criminals in encounters and arrested 139 others.

An analysis of the data shows that during this period, an average of six encounters took place every day, with 14 criminals arrested. Also, at least four criminals were killed in encounters every month. In first nine months of the government till December 15, 2017, 17 criminals were killed – an average of only 1.8 per month. However, this figure rises exponentially for the next seven months: between January 2018 and July 2018, 61 criminals were killed in the encounters – an average of 8.71 per month.

Last year, the government had sent a similar letter to all districts magistrates for highlighting during the 2018 Republic Day programme. As per that circular, 17 criminals had been killed and 109 were arrested during the action that the police took in “self-defence”, starting from the date the government was formed, till December 15, 2017.

Last year’s letter highlighted the data of number of people booked by anti-Romeo squads. But the communication made this year makes no mention of these figures. A senior official said, “Anti-Romeo squads are functional. The data of their action was sent but it was cut out in the letter for unknown reasons.” In the letter, the government has also highlighted the initiatives it claims to have taken for farmers during this period, including figures of loans waiver, and the payment made to sugarcane farmers this year.

Agarbatti more harmful than Cigarette, causes Cancer

0

Agarbattis are an important part of Hindu and Sufi rituals. While the smell of all things good may make you feel calm from within, chances are that agarbatti smoke may be harming you more than a cigarette!

As per a 2015 Chinese study, when agarbattis are lit, the smoke that comes out has tiny particles which disperse in the air. Turns out, that these fragrant sticks emit toxic particles which can harm our body at a cellular level.

The study confirmed that incense smoke contains three kinds of toxins which can lead to cancer.

These three kinds are mutagenic, genotoxic, and cytotoxic. Therefore, agarbattis can cause a gene to mutate, which is the first pre-requisite to cancer and other lung diseases. Genetic mutation can cause a change in the DNA, which is not a good sign.

Once you breathe in the smoke coming from agarbattis, it gets trapped in the lungs, which can lead to an inflammatory reaction. Since the particles contain as many as 64 compounds, it can cause irritation in the respiratory passage.

This is mainly due to the fact that agarbattis contain extra fine particles which can be dangerous to our body, and the addition of artificial fragrances can only add to this danger.

Kashmir Tourism most safe with 0% crime against tourists, claims Tourism Department

Kashmir – Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department praised the state to be an only state of India for zero percent crime rate against tourists.

MA Shah, director of the tourism department, dispelled the fears wandering around last year’s Amarnath Yatris attack and said – “Jammu and Kashmir is completely safe for visitors and tensions in the border areas have “little effect” on its tourism circuit.”

Shah called it – “an isolated incident to scare away visitors” – he promised that such attempts won’t repeat.

“Apart from last year’s attack on Amarnath yatris, there has not been any instance of violence in the tourism corridor of the state, spanning Jammu, Vaishno Devi, Sonemarg, Gulmarg or Ladakh, in the last one decade,” said Shah.

Shah also claimed that local tourists in 2017 crossed one crore, while 30 percent of them were from Gujarat, and 25 percent of them were from West Bengal.

“Had it been unsafe, we would not have had so many foreign and domestic tourists visiting Kashmir,” Shah said.

Kashmir is the only state which has a dedicated tourism police to assist the travellers.

“Kashmir is not just for holidaying in summer time, it is a round-the-year destination offering snowfall in the winter, blossoms in the spring, endless alpine meadows in the summer and the glory of crimson chinar trees in the autumn,” Shah added.

India launches world’s smallest satellite into space, designed by a Muslim boy

Sriharikota – India launched an ultra-lightweight satellite on Thursday designed by a 18-year-old Tamil Muslim boy Rifath Sharukh.

The satellite that can be held in palm, gained reputation for the country in the miniature design technology.

The 10-centimeter (four-inch) cube satellite, named Kalamsat V2, weighs just 1.2 kilograms (2.6 pounds), according to students from the private Space Kidz India group who designed the celestial unit.

The launch was another feather in the cap for the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), which won Asia’s race to Mars in 2014 when one of its spacecrafts reached the Red Planet on a shoestring budget.

The Kalamsat V2 was built at a cost of 1.2 million rupees ($16,900), said Srimathy Kesan, the CEO and founder of Space Kidz India.

It will serve as a communications satellite for ham radio transmissions used by amateurs for non-commercial activities—he adds.

A similar yet smaller satellite weighing 64 grams was designed by the same group in 2017, and was launched in the US abroad a NASA rocket, but couldn’t reach orbit.

However, the Thursday’s launch was 740-Kilograms Microsat-R that can send high-resolution pictures of the planet for defense tactics.

India has also built a reputation worldwide as a reliable low-cost option for space exploration.

Nigerian Pastor embraces Islam after seeing Muslims in dreams, converts Church into Mosque

0

Nigeria – A Christian pastor who founded Apata Adura Cherubim Church in Ekiti state of Nigeria adopted Islam, and turned his Church into a Mosque, after continuously getting dreams of people washing their hands and feet similar to Muslim ‘Wudu’ – ablution.

45-year-old former Pastor Adekunle Afolabi, now known as Alfa Abubakar Afolabi, practiced Christianity for over 25 years, until he recognized Islam as “the only religion that leads to heaven”.

“I was preparing for the anniversary when I started having dreams that eventually led to my conversion,” the former pastor said.

“At first in the dreams, I noticed my members were sitting on the floor in the church and some of them were covering their heads. I also saw that people were washing their hands and feet before entering the church just like it is done in Islam,” he added.

When he initially accepted Islam, around 150 of his Church-goers left him, but some of his family members and friends honored his decision.

“The only person who at the time opposed it was my wife, be¬cause she was a Christian when I married her,” he recollects.

After days of struggle, he transformed the Church he founded into a clean Mosque where Muslims have started to come in for the five daily prayers.

Shadab Hussain, a resident of Kota, Rajasthan has emerged as the topper of the CA (old syllabus) final exam, results of which were announced today by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). Hussain has scored 597 out of 800 with a 74.63 per cent marks.

Hussain has earned B.Com degree from Kota University. His father is a tailor and has studied till class 10. His mother is a school drop-out. He is the only brother of four sisters. Despite his parents being less educated, they worked hard to give him proper schooling.

“I studied day-and-night to earn a job so that my parents do not have to bother about their old age. I thought of Chartered Accountancy (CA) to be a niche profession where one can learn throughout their life. After due consideration and research I set my mind to become a CA,” Hussain told indianexpress.com.

The 23-year-old devoted 14-13 hours each day to self-study and was expecting to be among the top scorers. “This is the biggest achievement in my family. I was expecting a good rank since I was also among top scorers in the Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC) exam,” he said.

Keeping one’s mind calm during higher studies and analysing what one has studied is the key to crack the CA exam, according to Hussain. “I used to take a break of 30-40 minutes after three hours of study. I also made sure to walk two-three kilometres every day. It de-stressed me,” he said. “As the exams approached, I reduced the hours devoted to study in order to keep my mind alert,” he added.

Talking about his exam strategy, he said, “I read the paper and find out three-four questions which can help me attain 40 marks and tried solving them in an hour. Thus, I spent the rest two hours scoring more marks and helped me increase my total score, it gave me an edge over others.”

Suggesting his peers, Hussain said, “I advise everyone to have at least half-an-hour of me-time. During this, one can think about the day spent in retrospect. It would also help one manage time better during the day and gives the sense of pride and at the same time act as a quick revision.”

He likes to play badminton and cricket in his free time and found audit to be the easiest of all the seven subjects in the CA final exam. This Kota boy has an interest in auditing but is yet to decide the course of his career.
