Tehran — Iranian legislators shouted “Death to America” in a Sunday parliament session in the midst of rising tensions between America and Iran after Iran downed an unmanned US drone.
American President Donald J. Trump told on Friday that he halted a military strike to retaliate for the drone incident in order to save 150 people who would be possibly killed in the retaliation.
“America is the real terrorist in the world by spreading chaos in countries, giving advanced weapons to terrorist groups, causing insecurity, and still it says ‘Come, let’s negotiate’,” the parliament’s deputy speaker, Masoud Pezeshkian, said at the start of a session broadcast live on state radio.
The legislators kept chanting, “Death to America” repeatedly.
The chants were deliberately made after Trump said in a US television interview that Iranians have not screamed death to America lately.
