Aligarh – The prestigious Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)-Space Science and Technology Awareness Training (START) project has chosen Aligarh Muslim University (AMU)’s interdisciplinary Department of Remote Sensing and GIS Applications as its nodal centre.
The START programme is an innovative online training initiative by ISRO that aims to introduce undergraduate and postgraduate science and technology students to the fascinating field of space science and technology, according to a press release from the public relations office of Aligarh Muslim University.
“The programme will be conducted by experienced ISRO scientists, offering in-depth knowledge across diverse space science domains, including astronomy, planetary sciences, heliophysics, atmospheric sciences, microgravity-related studies, and space technology,” according to the release.
The department’s chairman and coordinator of the ISRO-START nodal centre, Dr. Haris Hasan Khan, stated that this partnership would open the door for a new generation of space enthusiasts and professionals who would make a substantial contribution to India’s growth in space science and technology.
The ISRO-START program’s main goal was to develop and produce skilled human resources in the field of space science and technology. By expanding the user base of space exploration mission data, this initiative also aimed to build a thriving ecosystem that promoted enthusiastic student involvement in space research.
