Trump’s comments appeared to soften the urgency surrounding one of Israel’s central war objectives following the joint U.S.-Israeli military campaign launched against Iran on Feb. 28.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently said the conflict could not be considered finished until Iran’s enriched uranium reserves were removed from the country.

“The war is not over,” Netanyahu said in a recent interview, arguing that the nuclear material “has to be taken out” of Iran.
