“Their jobs in the private sector have doubled since the launch of Vision 2030, surpassing one million for the first

“Their jobs in the private sector have doubled since the launch of Vision 2030, surpassing one million for the first time in history.”

Employment among Saudi women in the private sector has exceeded one million for the first time, marking a significant milestone in the Kingdom’s labor market transformation under Saudi Vision 2030, according to analysis by Al Eqtisadiah.

The rise in female employment comes alongside a broader decline in unemployment, which fell by 0.3 percentage points to 7.2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025. The figure brings the Kingdom closer to its Vision 2030 target of 7 percent, a threshold first reached in late 2024 before fluctuating through 2025.

Labor market gains have been underpinned by sustained economic growth, particularly in non-oil sectors, supported by government spending and expansionary fiscal policies. Analysts attribute job creation largely to private sector expansion and structural reforms aimed at increasing workforce participation among Saudi nationals.

Female employment has been a central driver of this shift. Prior to the launch of Vision 2030, unemployment among Saudi women stood at 34.5 percent, significantly contributing to overall joblessness. By the fourth quarter of 2025, female unemployment had declined to 10.3 percent, its lowest level since official records began in 1999.

At the same time, female labor force participation rose by 0.8 percentage points to 34.5 percent, exceeding the Vision 2030 target. Male participation also increased, reaching 64.7 percent. However, male unemployment edged up slightly to 5.6 percent, indicating a divergence in labor market dynamics across genders.

Overall unemployment, which includes both citizens and expatriates, rose marginally by 0.1 percentage points to 3.5 percent. This increase was driven by a rise in non-Saudi unemployment, which reached 1.7 percent.Economic indicators suggest that employment growth is closely tied to broader macroeconomic performance.

Saudi Arabia’s gross domestic product expanded by 5 percent year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2025, marking the fastest pace in four quarters and the eighth consecutive quarter of growth. The oil sector recorded a 10.8 percent increase, its strongest expansion in over three years, supported by higher production levels.

The non-oil sector maintained steady growth of 4.3 percent for the 20th consecutive quarter, reinforcing its role as a key pillar of economic diversification. In contrast, the government sector contracted by 1.2 percent, its first decline in more than two years.

Within the private sector, employment gains among Saudi nationals have been substantial. A total of 811,000 jobs were added over the period, including approximately 533,000 positions filled by women and 278,000 by men. As a result, total Saudi employment in the private sector rose to 2.55 million, representing a 52 percent increase.

Women accounted for 66 percent of new jobs created for Saudi citizens in the private sector, highlighting their growing role in the workforce. The increase reflects a series of policy reforms aimed at improving access to employment opportunities and reducing structural barriers.

Key measures have included lifting restrictions on women’s participation across multiple industries, advancing wage equality, and updating maternity regulations. Authorities have also introduced targeted programs to support female employment, including training initiatives, childcare services, and policies designed to enhance workplace inclusion.

Mobility reforms, including the lifting of restrictions on women driving, have also contributed to increased workforce participation by improving access to jobs. In parallel, government initiatives have encouraged private sector firms to hire more women, aligning corporate practices with national employment objectives.

The expansion of female employment has had a measurable impact on the overall labor market, contributing to a sustained decline in unemployment among Saudi nationals. Analysts note that continued progress will depend on maintaining economic growth, particularly in non-oil sectors, and further integrating women into emerging industries.

The data indicates that structural changes in the labor market are gaining traction, with female participation emerging as a key factor in achieving broader economic goals.

Davos – Saudi Arabia’s participation at the World Economic Forum in Davos underlines the Kingdom’s growing role in shaping global dialogue on economic stability, sustainable development, and international cooperation, as a senior delegation led by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan prepares to engage with global leaders from January 19 to 23.

The forum, held under the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue,” provides a strategic platform for Saudi Arabia to share its Vision 2030 experience while reinforcing partnerships that address shared global challenges in an increasingly interconnected world.

Prince Faisal emphasized that long-term prosperity cannot be achieved by governments acting alone, stressing that meaningful collaboration between the public and private sectors is essential for sustainable growth, resilience, and innovation.

He noted that Saudi Arabia views the World Economic Forum as a vital space for exchanging ideas on economic transformation, environmental responsibility, technological advancement, and human development, all of which are core pillars of the Kingdom’s national vision and reform agenda.

The Saudi delegation includes senior officials responsible for finance, investment, economy and planning, commerce, tourism, industry and mineral resources, as well as communications and information technology, reflecting the breadth of the Kingdom’s reform efforts.

Their participation in bilateral meetings and public sessions is aimed at deepening cooperation with international partners, attracting investment, and showcasing Saudi Arabia’s progress in diversifying its economy beyond oil while strengthening institutional capacity and competitiveness.

Prince Faisal highlighted that Saudi Arabia continues to develop new business models and policy frameworks that encourage innovation, enhance productivity, and create high-quality investment opportunities aligned with global trends.

He added that the Davos forum enables constructive engagement with governments, business leaders, and civil society representatives on pressing issues such as global economic uncertainty, climate challenges, digital transformation, and inclusive growth, all of which require collective action and shared responsibility.

Saudi House will also return to Davos in 2026 after its successful debut, hosting more than 20 focused sessions on investment, human capability development, quality of life, and global collaboration.

These sessions are designed to present Saudi perspectives, facilitate dialogue, and build bridges between international stakeholders, reinforcing the Kingdom’s image as an active contributor to global solutions rather than a passive participant.

The 56th World Economic Forum annual meeting is expected to attract around 3,000 participants from nearly 130 countries, including heads of state, government officials, CEOs, and thought leaders.

Saudi Arabia’s strong presence at the forum reflects its confidence in its reform trajectory and its willingness to engage openly with the world to promote stability, shared prosperity, and sustainable development through dialogue and cooperation.

Jeddah – Saudi Arabia has launched a new professional volunteering initiative aimed at enhancing the country’s national volunteering goals and enriching services provided to pilgrims.

The announcement took place during the fifth Hajj Conference and Exhibition in Jeddah, a four-day event that brought together local and international experts to explore innovations and technologies designed to improve the Hajj and Umrah experience.

The initiative is a joint effort between the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the National Center for the Non-Profit Sector, marking a significant milestone in the Kingdom’s drive to integrate professional expertise into volunteering work.

It seeks to empower organizations and entrepreneurs who serve pilgrims, ensuring high-quality services that align with the Kingdom’s broader vision for sustainable development and community participation.

By focusing on professional volunteering, the program encourages specialists from diverse fields to contribute their skills toward supporting nonprofit and Hajj-related organizations.

The initiative also aims to enhance institutional efficiency, strengthen human capabilities, and improve the overall management of Hajj services through modern methods and innovative technologies.

Key areas of focus include financial sustainability, developing business models for nonprofit organizations, and identifying investment opportunities that ensure long-term success.

Additionally, it emphasizes the integration of digital transformation and artificial intelligence to streamline operations, improve service delivery, and boost volunteer engagement across all sectors serving pilgrims.

This initiative also contributes directly to the goals of Vision 2030, which aims to increase volunteer participation in national development and position Saudi Arabia as a global leader in humanitarian service.

Through these efforts, the Kingdom continues to demonstrate its commitment to building a culture of giving, innovation, and collaboration.

The Hajj Conference served as a dynamic platform where experts, innovators, and decision-makers from around the world gathered to share ideas on enhancing the pilgrim experience.

Delegates from Islamic countries, government agencies, and private companies showcased new systems designed to ensure smoother, safer, and more efficient Hajj operations.

Exhibits featured advanced smart transport solutions, digital health monitoring systems, and crowd management technologies, all aimed at ensuring the safety and comfort of millions of pilgrims.

These innovations reflect Saudi Arabia’s ongoing investment in smart infrastructure and technological transformation to make every aspect of the pilgrimage seamless.

One of the most engaging panels at the conference focused on photography and documentary filmmaking, highlighting their crucial role in preserving the spiritual and cultural memory of Hajj.

Experts discussed how photography captures not only the rituals of Hajj but also the profound emotions, unity, and faith that define the experience.

Speakers noted that visual documentation serves as an educational bridge, connecting generations and promoting global understanding of the pilgrimage’s significance.

They emphasized developing Saudi photographers’ talents to tell compelling stories that reflect the values of peace, compassion, and humanity that lie at the heart of Hajj.

Another session explored Hajj’s cultural and social dimensions, focusing on symbols, traditions, and customs that shape the collective memory of Muslim societies.

Scholars and researchers stressed that Hajj is not only a religious obligation but also a cultural journey that deepens the shared consciousness of the Muslim world.

Participants highlighted the importance of documenting oral histories, preserving heritage artifacts, and promoting collaboration between universities, museums, and research institutions.

These partnerships are vital for safeguarding the legacy of Hajj and ensuring that its stories and spiritual essence continue to inspire future generations.

Museums and cultural centers play a significant role in preserving the human dimension of Hajj, displaying photographs, artifacts, and personal belongings that tell stories of faith and devotion.

These exhibits provide visitors with an emotional connection to the journey of pilgrims through time, reinforcing the universal message of unity and peace that Hajj embodies.

The new professional volunteering initiative, combined with Saudi Arabia’s continuous innovation in pilgrimage services, represents a forward-looking approach to global service and community empowerment.

It stands as a testament to the Kingdom’s dedication to excellence, compassion, and cultural preservation — values that continue to shape its role as the spiritual and humanitarian heart of the Muslim world.

Riyadh – Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, held a major coordination meeting with ministers, grand muftis, and Hajj officials from across the Muslim world. The gathering brought together over a hundred representatives to discuss preparations for the upcoming Hajj 2026 season.

The meeting, held in Riyadh, focused on enhancing organizational procedures, improving digital systems, and strengthening international collaboration. It was organized alongside the fifth edition of the Hajj Conference and Exhibition, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s leadership in global Hajj management.

Al-Rabiah praised the successful completion of the Hajj 2025 season, thanking all participating nations for their cooperation and professionalism. He acknowledged the combined efforts of the Hajj offices that helped millions of pilgrims perform their rituals safely and comfortably.

The minister urged all Hajj offices to finalize their contracts for services by early January 2026.
He emphasized that early planning ensures smooth coordination and guarantees pilgrims receive top-quality services throughout their spiritual journey.

Key regulatory updates were announced, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to modernization and digital transformation in Hajj operations. All service contracts, including accommodation and camp arrangements, must be finalized well ahead of schedule to ensure full readiness.

Among the new measures, Al-Rabiah stressed the importance of issuing Hajj visas before March 20, 2026, with no extensions beyond that date. He also called for awareness campaigns to educate pilgrims about avoiding unauthorized travel or fraudulent agencies.

A “health capability certificate” will now be mandatory for all pilgrims, verified through the Masar electronic platform. This initiative aims to safeguard the well-being of pilgrims and ensure medical readiness during the pilgrimage.

The minister also announced strict regulations for financial transactions, requiring all payments related to sacrificial animals to go through authorized channels only.
This includes the official Saudi Project for the Utilization of Hady and Adahi, ensuring transparency and ethical compliance.

In a push toward digital efficiency, the Nusuk card will be made mandatory for entry into the Grand Mosque and other holy sites.
This digital identification will streamline access control and enhance the overall safety of the pilgrimage experience.

Al-Rabiah emphasized that all administrative, medical, and media staff information must be uploaded between November and December.
The aim is to ensure smooth coordination between international delegations and Saudi authorities during the pilgrimage period.

He also urged Hajj offices to finalize flight reservations and airline partnerships by early January 2026. This proactive approach, he said, helps manage the large-scale logistics of transporting millions of pilgrims efficiently.

All transactions, including administrative and financial processes, will be conducted exclusively through the Nusuk Masar platform.
This centralized system will improve transparency, reduce errors, and promote faster communication between global Hajj missions.

Al-Rabiah reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s unwavering commitment to facilitating the spiritual journey of Muslims worldwide. He said these reforms reflect the Kingdom’s dedication to innovation, hospitality, and safety in every aspect of the Hajj experience.

The minister’s vision aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader digital transformation goals under Vision 2030. By integrating smart technology, global partnerships, and sustainability, the Hajj and Umrah sector continues to evolve as a global benchmark.

Officials from multiple countries expressed appreciation for the Kingdom’s efforts to streamline procedures and ensure equality in pilgrim services. The collaborative approach, they noted, enhances unity among Muslim nations and strengthens trust in Saudi Arabia’s Hajj leadership.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to improving coordination between domestic and international authorities.
With continued innovation and partnership, Hajj 2026 is expected to set new standards in organization, safety, and spiritual excellence.

The accolade celebrates the company’s advanced project management practices and its growing global leadership in operational excellence.

The award was presented during the Project Management Offices Summit 2025 held at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology in Riyadh. This global event brought together industry leaders, experts, and innovators to honor organizations that have achieved exceptional success in strategic project management.

Emad Al-Ghamdi, General Manager of Transformation and PMO at Saudia Holding, expressed pride in the recognition, emphasizing that the win reflects years of dedicated effort and collaboration.

He highlighted the strong support received from the Minister of Transport and Logistics Services and the group’s Director General, which has played a crucial role in Saudia’s ongoing transformation.

Al-Ghamdi described the award as a reflection of Saudia’s commitment to advancing its strategic Transformation Program. He noted that the company has achieved new levels of maturity, capability, and excellence in portfolio and program management.

He added that Saudia Group has implemented advanced portfolio management tools, predictive analytics, and is preparing for AI-driven dashboards to enhance visibility, decision-making, and proactive governance.
According to Al-Ghamdi, Saudia’s future PMO strategy revolves around three key pillars — sustainability, intelligence, and impact.
These guiding principles aim to transform the PMO into a dynamic and strategic engine that drives innovation and creates measurable value.

He further explained that the group plans to deepen its digital intelligence, expand local content, and enhance performance through technology-driven processes.
Looking ahead, Al-Ghamdi shared a clear vision for Saudia’s next phase of growth. “Our vision is to reach new heights and farther destinations,” he said, “making the PMO a strategic engine that accelerates transformation, empowers teams, and sets benchmarks for excellence across the region.”

He also offered guidance for emerging PMO leaders, encouraging them to lead with purpose and adaptability. He stressed that success in modern project management is no longer about control, but about collaboration, innovation, and maintaining a strong focus on organizational value.

The Global Project Excellence Awards, now in their fifth cycle, recognize both local and international organizations that demonstrate exceptional skill in project and portfolio management. The event celebrates innovation and leadership while promoting global standards in governance, accountability, and performance excellence.

Under the patronage of Badr Al-Dulami, Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics Services for Roads Affairs, the summit honored 24 organizations and 15 individuals for their outstanding contributions.

Jeddah – Young Saudi innovators and global entrepreneurs are bringing creative, technology-driven ideas to enhance the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages.

At the Hajj Conference and Exhibition in Jeddah, new innovations are being showcased to make pilgrimage experiences safer, smoother, and more accessible for all.

One standout concept is a cable car system proposed by Anhar Hamid Al-Luhiani, a student from King Abdulaziz University.
Her idea aims to assist elderly and differently-abled pilgrims in reaching the Jamarat (stoning site) efficiently and comfortably.

The cable car would provide safe, sustainable, and smart transport between Muzdalifah and Mina, reducing travel time dramatically.
While walking may take 30 minutes and buses 15, the cable car journey would take only around four minutes, offering a modern and comfortable alternative.

Al-Luhiani’s innovation was inspired by her mother’s challenges during Hajj, motivating her to create a safer and faster way for vulnerable pilgrims to perform their rituals. Her project aligns with Saudi Arabia’s vision for smarter, sustainable, and inclusive Hajj services.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is supporting similar technological developments that enhance organization and reduce congestion.
These innovations are part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to modernize pilgrimage management with advanced solutions.

Among the standout technologies is Hadi, an AI-powered mobile application introduced by Saudi entrepreneur Abdulaziz Al Shawair.
The app provides step-by-step guidance for pilgrims, from arrival to departure, helping them navigate, plan, and perform rituals efficiently.

Through Hadi, pilgrims receive real-time updates on transportation, crowd density, and optimal times for performing rituals, ensuring smoother movement. The application also offers support in case of emergencies or confusion, making it a valuable digital companion for pilgrims.

Additionally, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, in collaboration with Takween, a startup from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, has developed another smart app.

This system helps track the number of visitors at crowded holy sites in real-time, allowing authorities to maintain safety and manage capacity effectively.

Technology experts like Essam Ewis from Tamkeen highlight how digital tracking promotes better organization and safety during pilgrimage seasons. He stated that the new system helps estimate crowd sizes and maintain smooth pilgrim movement across key sites.

The event also featured international innovators contributing to Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation goals for Hajj.
From Indonesia, Garibaldy Mukti introduced the Pilgrim Pal app, a comprehensive tool for managing accommodation, transport, and communication for Hajj and Umrah travelers.

This app simplifies coordination between travel agencies and pilgrims, offering translation, navigation, and emergency assistance features.
It has already been successfully implemented by several Indonesian agencies, proving its global potential and reliability.

Another inspiring product presented was My Wudhu Companion, developed by Mohammed Akoojee and Sumayya Suliman.
It is a portable ablution bottle designed to make performing wudhu easier for pilgrims in crowded or limited-space environments.

Their innovation promotes water conservation while supporting spiritual practices, aligning with environmental sustainability and Islamic values.
The product showcases how small ideas can create significant positive impacts for millions of worshippers.

The exhibition’s Innovation Zone and Hackathon Zone serve as creative spaces for entrepreneurs and developers to design solutions for future pilgrim services. These initiatives reflect Saudi Arabia’s vision to lead globally in technological excellence and hospitality in Hajj and Umrah management.

Through innovation, collaboration, and vision, the Kingdom is paving the way for a safer, more efficient, and spiritually enriching pilgrimage experience. The future of Hajj is being shaped today — by creativity, compassion, and cutting-edge Saudi innovation.
