Beirut– Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Bukhari, said adherence to the 1989 Taif Agreement remains the foundation of any political settlement in Lebanon, stressing the need to preserve civil peace and strengthen state institutions amid continuing regional tensions.

Bukhari made the remarks during meetings in Beirut with Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, Deputy Head of the Higher Islamic Shiite Council Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, and Druze spiritual leader Sheikh Sami Abi Al-Muna, as Saudi Arabia continues diplomatic engagement over Lebanon’s political and security crisis.

During his meeting with Derian, Bukhari said Riyadh remained committed to Lebanon’s unity and was working diplomatically to support solutions that reinforce security, stability and prosperity while backing Lebanese state institutions.

He said the Taif Accord, which ended Lebanon’s 1975-1990 civil war and restructured the country’s political system, remained the backbone of any sustainable national settlement.

Derian praised Saudi Arabia’s role in supporting Lebanon’s stability under what he described as exceptional circumstances and said rebuilding the Lebanese state was the only path toward national recovery.

He called for restoring state authority across all Lebanese territory, limiting weapons to the Lebanese army and reaffirming commitment to the Taif Agreement while strengthening national unity.

Derian also welcomed diplomatic efforts by President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, supported by Arab and international partners, to end the war in Lebanon and secure a broader political settlement.

In a separate meeting with Al-Khatib, Bukhari expressed optimism about Lebanon’s future and said preserving civil peace required agreement among the country’s three top leaders on a shared national path.He praised Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri for what he described as wisdom and experience during critical political moments.

Bukhari also recalled late former parliament speaker Hussein Husseini, often regarded as a principal architect of the Taif Agreement, citing his well-known remark that “the alternative to Taif is implementing Taif.”

Al-Khatib said Saudi Arabia played an important role in maintaining civil peace in Lebanon and stressed that his side did not seek a separate political project. He added that Arab and Islamic states needed greater coordination to confront regional instability and said Saudi Arabia was central to any broader effort to strengthen regional cooperation while respecting national sovereignty.

Bukhari later met Abi Al-Muna to discuss continuing military operations in the region, efforts to stop the war in Lebanon, and Saudi diplomatic initiatives aimed at helping the country navigate its political and economic crisis.

The talks also covered the recent visit to Lebanon by Saudi Foreign Ministry adviser Yazid bin Farhan and broader efforts to preserve national unity and avoid further escalation.

Riyadh – Saudi Arabia continues to strengthen its role as a key diplomatic and security partner in the Middle East

Riyadh – Saudi Arabia continues to strengthen its role as a key diplomatic and security partner in the Middle East as Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman met with the US President’s adviser for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, for high-level discussions focused on bilateral relations and regional developments.

The meeting reflected the depth of the longstanding partnership between Riyadh and Washington, highlighting shared interests in regional security, political coordination, and economic stability at a time of evolving global and regional dynamics.

During the talks, both sides reviewed efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability across the Middle East and parts of Africa, underscoring the importance of dialogue, cooperation, and strategic alignment between allies with significant regional influence.

Prince Khalid bin Salman reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to working closely with the United States to address common challenges, including conflict resolution, counterterrorism initiatives, and the protection of international trade routes vital to the global economy.

The discussions also emphasized the importance of diplomatic engagement as a cornerstone of regional stability, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s growing focus on balanced foreign policy, conflict de-escalation, and constructive international partnerships.

Saudi Arabia’s defense and security strategy has increasingly combined military preparedness with diplomacy, economic development, and regional dialogue, positioning the Kingdom as a stabilizing force in an often volatile geopolitical landscape.

The meeting with the US presidential adviser comes at a time when Saudi-American relations are expanding beyond traditional defense cooperation to include energy security, technological collaboration, and coordinated responses to humanitarian and political crises.

Both sides highlighted the value of regular consultations at senior levels to ensure alignment on key regional files, including developments in the Middle East and Africa, where shared interests in stability and development continue to grow.

The talks also reflected mutual recognition of Saudi Arabia’s expanding diplomatic footprint, particularly its role in facilitating dialogue, supporting ceasefire initiatives, and encouraging political solutions to longstanding regional conflicts.

Prince Khalid bin Salman’s engagement with senior US officials underscores Riyadh’s proactive approach to international diplomacy, ensuring that Saudi perspectives are clearly communicated while reinforcing partnerships that support long-term regional security.

For the United States, sustained engagement with Saudi leadership remains central to its strategy in the Middle East, given the Kingdom’s influence, economic weight, and leadership role within the Arab and Islamic worlds.

The meeting reaffirmed shared commitments to addressing regional challenges through cooperation rather than confrontation, emphasizing stability, sovereignty, and respect for international norms as guiding principles.

Observers note that such engagements contribute to policy continuity and trust-building, helping both nations navigate complex regional issues while maintaining open channels for dialogue and coordination.

As Saudi Arabia advances its Vision 2030 agenda, strong international partnerships remain essential to supporting economic diversification, regional integration, and a secure environment for investment and development.

The meeting between Prince Khalid bin Salman and Massad Boulos thus represents more than a routine diplomatic exchange, reflecting an evolving partnership shaped by shared interests, strategic dialogue, and a collective vision for regional peace and prosperity.

Saudi Arabia’s gesture of condolence is a reflection of its broader humanitarian principles and foreign policy of peace and solidarity.

The Kingdom has consistently emphasized compassion and unity in response to crises around the world, extending assistance and moral support to affected nations.

The Embassy’s message reinforces this commitment, portraying Saudi Arabia as a nation that values empathy and friendship beyond borders.

Officials in both countries have continued to collaborate on key areas such as trade, investment, technology, and energy, with relations further strengthened under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and India’s growing global influence.

The Embassy’s statement, though rooted in tragedy, further demonstrates how such diplomatic ties extend beyond economics and politics to encompass shared human values.

The Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, holds great historical significance for India, symbolizing freedom and resilience. The Saudi Embassy’s message of solidarity carries a deeper meaning in this context — it represents the Kingdom’s respect for India’s heritage and the importance of standing together in moments of sorrow.

Observers noted that the statement reflects a mature and compassionate approach to diplomacy — one that prioritizes empathy and shared humanity.

The words from the Saudi Embassy in New Delhi echo the Kingdom’s vision of fostering peace, cooperation, and goodwill among nations.

As India recovers from this unfortunate event, messages of support such as this one from Saudi Arabia serve as a reminder that the bonds between nations are often strengthened in times of hardship.

The outpouring of condolences from Riyadh highlights that true friendship between countries extends beyond policy and trade agreements — it is rooted in mutual care and concern.

Through this gesture, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia once again demonstrates its unwavering commitment to international peace, security, and humanitarian solidarity.

The Embassy’s message stands as a symbol of friendship between the two nations — one built on understanding, respect, and shared compassion.

Manama – Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its commitment to promoting regional dialogue, cooperation, and stability through its participation in the Manama

Manama – Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its commitment to promoting regional dialogue, cooperation, and stability through its participation in the Manama Dialogue 2025, held in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Representing Saudi Arabia at the high-profile international security conference, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed Al-Khuraiji attended the opening session on Saturday, where leaders, diplomats, and policy experts gathered to discuss some of the most pressing global and regional challenges.

Now in its 21st edition, the Manama Dialogue has become one of the most influential platforms for security and foreign policy discussions in the Middle East.

It provides an opportunity for world leaders, ministers, and strategists to engage in constructive dialogue, share perspectives, and explore collective solutions to achieve lasting peace, stability, and prosperity. The Kingdom’s active participation underscores its role as a leading voice for diplomacy, multilateral cooperation, and regional development.

During the conference, Al-Khuraiji emphasized Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support for dialogue and partnership as essential tools for resolving global challenges.

He highlighted that the Kingdom’s foreign policy, guided by Vision 2030, prioritizes peace, cooperation, and economic progress across the region.

He also noted that Saudi Arabia continues to work closely with its allies and international organizations to promote regional stability and encourage peaceful conflict resolution through diplomacy and dialogue.

On the sidelines of the event, Al-Khuraiji met with Anne-Claire Legendre, adviser to the French president on Middle East and North Africa affairs.

The meeting reflected the close and historic relationship between Saudi Arabia and France. Both sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations, deepen strategic cooperation, and address shared regional and international priorities.

They also reviewed recent global developments and reaffirmed their mutual commitment to stability and constructive engagement in the region.

The meeting highlighted the ongoing coordination between Riyadh and Paris in various sectors, including defense, economic investment, cultural exchange, and clean energy initiatives.

These discussions align with Saudi Arabia’s broader diplomatic strategy of fostering strong partnerships with global allies to advance common goals and sustainable development.

The Manama Dialogue featured participation from a wide range of regional and international representatives, including foreign ministers, national security advisers, and senior policymakers.

Topics of discussion included regional security architecture, international cooperation on counterterrorism, maritime security, and energy stability.

The event also emphasized the importance of diplomacy in addressing global challenges such as climate change, conflict prevention, and humanitarian relief efforts.

Saudi Arabia’s involvement in the dialogue reflects its growing role as a key player in shaping global and regional policy discussions.

Under the leadership of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, the Kingdom continues to champion initiatives that promote dialogue over division, stability over conflict, and development over stagnation.

In recent years, Saudi Arabia has emerged as a diplomatic hub, hosting and participating in major international conferences aimed at fostering cooperation between nations.

Its contributions extend beyond security and politics to include global humanitarian aid, sustainable energy transition, and cultural exchange.

These initiatives embody the Kingdom’s forward-looking approach, which seeks to position Saudi Arabia as a bridge between East and West, facilitating mutual understanding and collaboration.

Al-Khuraiji’s presence at the Manama Dialogue reaffirmed the Kingdom’s dedication to constructive diplomacy and partnership. His participation highlighted Saudi Arabia’s balanced and pragmatic foreign policy, which prioritizes peace, security, and economic growth not only for the Kingdom but for the entire region.

The Kingdom’s message at the conference was clear: cooperation and dialogue remain the foundation for a stable and prosperous future.

By engaging with international partners and contributing to discussions on critical issues, Saudi Arabia continues to demonstrate its leadership role in advancing peace and development in the Middle East and beyond.

The Manama Dialogue 2025 once again proved to be an important platform for building trust and strengthening relationships among nations.

For Saudi Arabia, it served as another opportunity to reaffirm its vision of a peaceful and interconnected world built on respect, collaboration, and shared prosperity.

London – Former UK Culture Minister Ed Vaizey, now a member of the House of Lords, has commended Saudi Arabia

London – Former UK Culture Minister Ed Vaizey, now a member of the House of Lords, has commended Saudi Arabia for its growing emphasis on culture and creativity, highlighting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 reforms as a driving force behind these developments.

His remarks came during an event at the University of Westminster on October 17, which included a special screening of “Rewriting Arab News,” a documentary celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Saudi newspaper and its digital transformation.

Vaizey emphasized the importance of cultural understanding and collaboration between nations, describing culture as “the soul of the country.”

He noted that cultural investment brings both economic and social benefits, praising Saudi Arabia for taking a proactive approach to fostering its creative sector.

“For someone who has been a culture minister in the UK, where it is often a challenge to communicate the value of culture, seeing Saudi Arabia make culture a core part of Vision 2030 is remarkable,” he said.

The event included a panel discussion with Arab News Editor-in-Chief Faisal J. Abbas and University of Westminster Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement and Employability Dibyesh Anand.

Vaizey highlighted Saudi Arabia’s $20 billion creative industries sector, projected to contribute 3 percent of GDP and grow to $48 billion by 2030.

He described it as one of the Kingdom’s fastest-growing non-oil sectors and a significant opportunity for international collaboration, particularly with the UK.

Vaizey also discussed his ongoing involvement in projects linking British and Saudi cultural initiatives, including work with the cultural consulting firm BOP, Riyadh-based arts organization Edge of Arabia, and the Saudi-UK Creative Forum.

He stressed the importance of bringing changemakers from both countries together on an equal footing to share ideas and foster innovation.

“Saudi Arabia has the potential to offer valuable lessons to cultural institutions worldwide on innovation and creative development,” he noted.

During the event, Vaizey reflected on his recent visit to the inaugural Cultural Investment Forum in Riyadh, highlighting the Kingdom’s focus on culture as a driver of economic growth.

He said, “By investing in culture, Saudi Arabia is strengthening not only its economy but also the identity and vitality of its society.

The Middle East, and Saudi Arabia in particular, is an economically and culturally dynamic region, and it is inspiring to witness this ambition and confidence.”

University of Westminster Deputy Vice-Chancellor Dibyesh Anand highlighted the role of universities in fostering dialogue and understanding across cultures.

He noted the challenges faced by institutions in navigating global tensions while promoting diversity, open dialogue, and mutual respect. Anand said the university aims to equip students with the skills to navigate complexity while maintaining respect for differing perspectives.

Abbas, a 2009 Westminster graduate, spoke about Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 as an outward-looking plan requiring international partnerships.

He emphasized the value of knowledge transfer and collaboration in areas ranging from cultural industries to technology and energy.

Abbas also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s growing diplomatic role in regional and global affairs, citing efforts to mediate conflicts and promote stability as integral to both economic and societal development.

Looking ahead, Abbas shared plans for Arab News’ new AI-powered translation system, developed with regional startup CAMB.AI.

The platform will allow the newspaper to publish content in 50 languages, reaching nearly 80 percent of the global population, demonstrating the Kingdom’s commitment to innovation and international engagement.

The event, attended by academics, students, diplomats, and professionals from the UK and Arab world, underscored the growing cultural, economic, and diplomatic connections between Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.

Tokyo – Tokyo witnessed a spectacular celebration of sportsmanship, diplomacy, and cultural connection as Ecolo Alba, a powerful and graceful colt, galloped to victory at the 11th Saudi Arabia Royal Cup on Saturday.

The event, held at the iconic Tokyo Racecourse, marked not only a thrilling chapter in horse racing but also a meaningful symbol of the growing friendship between Saudi Arabia and Japan.

Amid light drizzle and overcast skies, excitement filled the air as jockey Rusei Sakai led Ecolo Alba to a stunning win in the 1,600-meter race for two-year-olds.

Trained by Yasuhito Tamura, the colt showcased incredible stamina and precision, crossing the finish line 1.5 lengths ahead of Galilea, while the favorite, Zoro Astro, finished close behind in third.

Speaking after the race, Sakai expressed immense pride in the victory, calling it “a strong race and a special win.” He admitted feeling anxious in the early stages but credited Ecolo Alba’s steady rhythm and determination for the remarkable comeback.

The crowd responded with thunderous applause as the duo claimed a well-deserved triumph, capturing the spirit of excellence that defines the Saudi Arabia Royal Cup.

The event was graced by the presence of Abdullah Alaseeri, Secretary General of the Saudi Equestrian Authority, alongside Mohamed Al Khatham, Deputy Secretary General, and Anas Alnowaiser, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia.

Their attendance underscored the significance of the event as more than just a sporting competition — it was a reflection of the enduring partnership between Saudi Arabia and Japan.

In his remarks, Alaseeri emphasized the symbolic importance of the race, which was first initiated by the late King Abdullah to strengthen international cultural and sporting ties.

“This is a momentous occasion and a reflection of our strong diplomatic relationship with Japan,” he said. “We look forward to deepening our collaboration in many fields. The Saudi Arabia Royal Cup is a bridge of friendship between our two nations, celebrating both our traditions and our shared vision for the future.”

As Alaseeri proudly handed the gleaming trophy to the winning team, cheers erupted across the racecourse. The audience — a mix of diplomats, officials, and fans — applauded not only the thrilling performance but also the spirit of unity that the event represented. The ceremony began with the national anthems of both Japan and Saudi Arabia, symbolizing mutual respect and the growing cooperation between the two countries.

Hidenori Takagi, Manager of the Tokyo Racecourse, welcomed the guests and highlighted the evolving collaboration between the Japan Racing Association, the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia, and both nations’ horse racing industries. He described the Royal Cup as “a shining example of how sports can bring cultures closer together.”

Adding to the atmosphere of celebration, Hideki Hagiwara, Counselor at Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), noted that horse racing in Japan continues to flourish under MAFF’s regulation.

He also referenced a proud moment earlier this year when a Japanese horse claimed victory at the Saudi Cup, the world’s richest horse race held in Riyadh. To honor that achievement, MAFF and the Saudi Embassy collaborated on a food promotion event at the racecourse, offering guests the chance to enjoy authentic halal cuisine and meet producers showcasing their goods.

Ecolo Alba’s story adds another layer to this success. Purchased for ¥77 million at the Chiba auction, the colt made an impressive debut in July, winning its first race by two and a half lengths. Saturday’s victory now cements its reputation as one of Japan’s most promising young racehorses.

Beyond the racetrack, the Saudi Arabia Royal Cup continues to stand as a symbol of shared respect, sports diplomacy, and cultural exchange. What began as an initiative to strengthen bilateral ties has grown into a prestigious event that brings together people from diverse backgrounds under a single passion — the love of equestrian sport.

As Ecolo Alba’s triumph echoes through Tokyo, it reflects a deeper narrative — one of partnership, progress, and promise between Saudi Arabia and Japan.

With both nations committed to fostering stronger connections through sports, innovation, and culture, the Royal Cup serves as a shining reminder that when tradition meets teamwork, the result is nothing short of extraordinary.
