Copenhagen, March 10 – A disturbance has disrupted the Fenno-Skan 2 submarine electricity transmission link between Finland and Sweden, Finnish

Copenhagen, March 10 – A disturbance has disrupted the Fenno-Skan 2 submarine electricity transmission link between Finland and Sweden, Finnish grid operator Fingrid said on Tuesday, adding that the cause of the failure is under investigation.

Fenno-Skan 2 is an 800-megawatt high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission connection that carries electricity between the two Nordic countries across the Baltic Sea.

Fingrid said in a statement that the reason for the disturbance had not yet been determined and technical teams were examining the outage.

In a separate regulatory update published on the Nord Pool messaging platform, Swedish grid operator Svenska kraftnät said the disruption was expected to last for about 18 hours.

The Fenno-Skan 2 interconnector is a key cross-border power link used to balance electricity supply between the Nordic countries and support regional energy markets.
