According to local media, Ministry said, “We are already studying a new system of work”.

Fahad Bin Jumah, the former member of the Economic and Energy Committee of Shura Council, said, “God willing, this new system includes: Limiting working hours to 40 hours per week. Determining a minimum wage of no less than 6000 riyals per month.”

“Attracting foreign investments is not affected by what was mentioned, wages and taxes in their countries are much higher than what we have”, he added.

Ministry also said, “We are studying a new system of work and 1,950 million Saudi workers in the private sector”.

“The labor market strategy will generate 1.8 million jobs over the coming years”, it added.

Saudi Arabia’s brotherly nation United Arab Emirates announced in December 2021, about the implementation of a shorter workweek, starting from January 1, 2022, which includes weekend as Friday half-day, Saturday and Sunday,

UAE took the decision to align with the global markets. Sharjah also adopted a four-day week, offering workers Friday full-day off in addition to Saturday and Sunday.
