Geneva – Secretary General of United Nations General Antonio Guterres on Wednesday condemned India’s Delhi riots and asked the security

Geneva – Secretary General of United Nations General Antonio Guterres on Wednesday condemned India’s Delhi riots and asked the security forces and Police to show restraint, also said that UN body is closely watching the situation, Press Trust of India reported.

Spokesperson of Guterres Stephane Dujarric said in a press conference, “I think it’s very important that demonstrators be allowed to demonstrate peacefully and that security forces show restraint. This is the secretary general’s constant position.”

Violence that erupted in the north east Delhi has officially claimed over 24 lives and over 180 people are injured, while the social media reports have claimed that the unofficial figures are triple.

Muslim houses and businesses are burnt and razed down to ground.

The voilence was alledgedly triggered after BJP’s Kapil Mishra had made intimidating and provocating speeches against anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) protestors.

Indian government under Prime Minister Modi passed the controversial bill in parliament in December 2019. The law paves the way for minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan to get the Indian citizenship, but the critics say it is biased against Muslims, since it’s only applicable for Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Jains, Buddhists, and Parsis, excluding the Muslim migrants.

Washington — US President Donald Trump on Monday offered himself as a mediator to resolve the Kashmir issue between India

Washington — US President Donald Trump on Monday offered himself as a mediator to resolve the Kashmir issue between India and Pakistan. He said that Indian PM Narendra Modi requested him to be a mediator.

During the meeting between Pakistan’s PM Imran Khan and US president at the Oval office, Mr. Trump said that Indian PM Modi met him two weeks ago and he literally said, “Would you like to be a mediator, or an arbitrator?” And Trump asked, “Where?” Modi responded, “Kashmir”.

Mr Trump told reporters that “If I can help, I would love to be a mediator”.

The issue of disputed Kashmir has been a bone contention between India and Pakistan with both claiming to own it entirely, however, separatist movements in Kashmir demands a separate country which is neither under India nor under Pakistan. Hence, the territory has remained militarized.

However, there has been no official response from Indian authorities so far. Some commentators suggested that Modi requested to help stop cross-border militancy, while Trump clearly said that he was requested to be an arbitrator.

In response to the Trump’s offer, Khan said that “prayers of over a billion people will be with you if you can mediate and resolve the situation.”

The Indian politician Omar Abdullah, grandson of Sheikh Abdullah, who happens to be the first political leader and former chief minister of Indian-administered Kashmir said on Twitter: “Personally I think @realDonaldTrump is talking out of his hat when he says @PMOIndia asked for US involvement in solving the Kashmir issue.”

Personally I think @realDonaldTrump is talking out of his hat when he says @PMOIndia asked for US involvement in solving the Kashmir issue but I’d like to see @MEAIndia call Trump out on his claim. https://t.co/JRlH4mehrp
— Omar Abdullah (@OmarAbdullah) July 22, 2019

India and Pakistan has long struggled over the entirety of Kashmir which even lead to a full-blown war famously known as Kargil War in 1999, and in February tensions between India and Pakistan escalated due to Pulwama terror attack which killed 40 Indian paramilitary forces.

Trump’s arbitration can help resolve the dispute amicably.

Britain – The well-known British Parliamentarian called ‘Statue of Unity’ a total nonsense and condemned Indian government of misusing British taxpayer’s

Britain – The well-known British Parliamentarian called ‘Statue of Unity’ a total nonsense and condemned Indian government of misusing British taxpayer’s money, as a foreign aid, on a statue instead of enhancing women’s rights, funding solar panels, and investing to develop low-carbon transport.

According to 66-year-old – Peter William Bone – member of parliament for Wellingborough, the English taxpayer donated £1.17billion in foreign aid and Indian government utilized £330million for the construction of 597ft tall bronze memorial of Sardar Patel —‘Statue of Unity’, quoted by Daily Mail Online.

Expressing his anger, he said, “To take £1.1billion in aid from us and then at the same time spend £330million on a statue is a total nonsense and it is the sort of thing that drives people mad.”

“What it proves is that we should not be giving money to India. It is up to them how they spend their money but if they can afford this statue, then it is clearly a country we should not need to be giving aid to,” he exclaimed.

Official records reveal that Britain donated India with £300million in 2012, £268million in 2013, £278 million in 2014 and £185million in 2015. More aid was also given in smaller amounts in consecutive years.

The British claim that the statue of unity project gave employment to only 3,500 people while 72 villages were ruined and thousands of poor villagers were forced to leave their houses.

The primary goal of the British aid to India was to test whether Yoga helps people who have had heart attacks, and bringing women scientists from India to Cambridge university.

The Great Britain is extremely angry over Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi who spent Rs. 2989.5 Crore on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s statue, that was unveiled on October 31.
