Gaza City-At least five Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes in Gaza on Saturday, including four members of the same

Gaza City-At least five Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes in Gaza on Saturday, including four members of the same family, according to local health and civil defense officials, underscoring persistent violence despite a ceasefire that took effect last year.

An overnight airstrike hit an apartment building in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City, killing four members of the Al-Safadi family, including a husband, wife and their two daughters, Gaza’s civil defense agency said. The agency, which operates under Hamas authority, said the attack also wounded 12 other people.

Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City confirmed receiving the bodies of four members of the family, including two children.

Relatives said the victims were civilians with no involvement in militant activities. Nael Al-Safadi, a family member, said the strike occurred while the family was asleep inside the building.

Footage from the scene showed extensive damage to the apartment, with sections of the exterior wall destroyed and household belongings scattered among the rubble.

In a separate incident, Al-Shifa Hospital said it received the body of one person killed in an Israeli drone strike near an intersection in northern Gaza City.

The Israeli military did not immediately comment on either incident.

The latest deaths come as Israel and Hamas continue to exchange accusations of violating the ceasefire that took effect on Oct. 10 last year. Although large-scale fighting has subsided, sporadic strikes and security incidents have continued across the territory, complicating efforts to secure a permanent end to the conflict.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, which operates under Hamas authority, at least 1,012 Palestinians have been killed in the territory since the ceasefire began. The United Nations has generally regarded the ministry’s casualty figures as reliable, although independent verification remains difficult because of restrictions on media access and movement within Gaza.

The Israeli military has reported five fatalities among its forces during the same period.

The continuing violence highlights the fragility of the truce and the challenges facing diplomatic efforts aimed at transforming the ceasefire into a lasting political settlement.

The Polisario Front announced on Sunday that Lehbib Mohamed Abdelaziz, a member of the organization’s secretariat, was killed while taking

The Polisario Front announced on Sunday that Lehbib Mohamed Abdelaziz, a member of the organization’s secretariat, was killed while taking part in an attack against Morocco’s defense system in Western Sahara. The group said three fighters died in the operation but did not identify the other casualties.

Algeria-Three members of the Polisario Front, including the son of the movement’s late longtime leader Mohamed Abdelaziz, were killed during an operation targeting Morocco’s defensive barrier in Western Sahara, the independence group said, underscoring continuing tensions in the disputed territory.

In a statement carried by the Sahrawi news agency SPS, the movement said Lehbib Mohamed Abdelaziz had “fallen on the field of honor.” The Polisario subsequently declared three days of mourning.

Lehbib Mohamed Abdelaziz was the son of Mohamed Abdelaziz, the historical leader of the Polisario Front and president of the self-proclaimed Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), who led the movement from the territory’s independence declaration in 1976 until his death in 2016.

The Polisario said the 37-year-old officer was killed during military action directed against Morocco’s defense system in the disputed territory. The group provided no additional details regarding the circumstances of the operation.

Spanish media reported that a drone strike attributed to Morocco occurred east of the defensive barrier, although no official confirmation was immediately available.

The structure, commonly known as the Sand Wall, stretches approximately 2,700 kilometers across Western Sahara. Morocco constructed the fortified barrier between 1980 and 1987 to limit incursions by Polisario fighters and secure areas under its control.

Western Sahara, a former Spanish colony rich in mineral resources, remains one of North Africa’s longest-running territorial disputes. Morocco administers most of the territory, while the Algeria-backed Polisario Front seeks independence and claims sovereignty over the region.

A United Nations-backed ceasefire that largely held for nearly three decades collapsed in 2020, prompting the Polisario to resume armed operations against Moroccan forces.

The diplomatic landscape surrounding the dispute shifted further last October when the United Nations Security Council, with support from the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, backed a Moroccan proposal that would grant Western Sahara autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty.

The latest fatalities highlight the continuing security risks in the territory despite ongoing international efforts to find a political solution to the decades-old conflict.

Gaza City – Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip killed at least 10 people on Saturday, according to Gaza’s civil

Gaza City – Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip killed at least 10 people on Saturday, according to Gaza’s civil defense service, while Israel’s military said one of those killed was a Hamas commander, underscoring the continued volatility of a ceasefire that both sides accuse each other of repeatedly violating.

The deadliest incident occurred in Gaza City, where a drone strike hit the Jawazat camp for displaced Palestinians, killing eight people and wounding 15 others, according to the civil defense authority, which operates under the Hamas administration.

Al-Shifa Hospital said it received the bodies of eight victims from the strike. The Israeli military confirmed it had carried out an operation in the area, stating that it had targeted militants but providing no further details.

In southern Gaza, a separate strike killed 25-year-old Muhannad Othman Farwana in Khan Younis, according to civil defense officials and medical personnel at Nasser Hospital, who said several wounded people were also brought to the facility.

The Israeli military identified Farwana as a commander of a Hamas military cell and said he was killed in a precision strike. Hamas did not immediately comment on the allegation.

Relatives said the strike hit a tent erected on the roof of Farwana’s family home shortly before his scheduled wedding ceremony. Family members had been preparing for the celebration when the attack occurred, according to his cousin, Mohammed Farwana.

Later on Saturday, civil defense officials reported another fatal strike in southeastern Gaza City that killed a 37-year-old man.

The latest violence comes despite a ceasefire that took effect in October 2025 following more than two years of war triggered by Hamas’ October 7, 2023 attack on Israel. Although large-scale hostilities have diminished, both Israel and Hamas continue to accuse each other of almost daily violations of the truce agreement.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, which operates under Hamas and whose casualty figures are regularly cited by United Nations agencies, at least 951 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire began. The Israeli military has reported five fatalities among its personnel during the same period.

Independent verification of casualty figures and battlefield claims remains difficult because of restrictions on media access and movement within Gaza. International news organizations, including AFP, have said they are unable to independently verify many reports from the territory.

The continued exchange of strikes and accusations has raised concerns about the durability of the ceasefire, even as international mediators seek to prevent a return to full-scale conflict in the enclave.

Dubai — Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. military assets in Kuwait and Bahrain on Wednesday, prompting U.S.

Dubai — Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. military assets in Kuwait and Bahrain on Wednesday, prompting U.S. retaliatory strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island, as tensions escalated despite ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at ending months of conflict across the Gulf.

Kuwait said one person was killed and several others were injured after Iranian attacks struck civilian and vital infrastructure, including Kuwait International Airport. The foreign ministry said the assault caused damage to key facilities and diplomatic missions, while air traffic was temporarily suspended before operations resumed later from Terminal 4 following safety assessments.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had targeted the headquarters of the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, an airbase and military helicopters in a Gulf state, describing the operation as retaliation for what it called a U.S. strike on a communications tower south of Qeshm Island.

The U.S. military rejected Iran’s account, saying its forces intercepted multiple Iranian missiles and drones launched toward Kuwait and Bahrain before conducting strikes on Qeshm Island. U.S. Central Command said no Iranian projectiles reached their intended targets.

Iranian media reported explosions near Qeshm Island, located close to the strategic Strait of Hormuz, while Tehran also accused U.S. forces of striking an Iranian tanker near the waterway. The IRGC said it subsequently targeted a vessel identified as Panaya with missiles.

The renewed hostilities followed reports from Iranian media that communication with international mediators over extending a ceasefire framework had stalled. However, U.S. President Donald Trump dismissed suggestions that talks had ceased, saying discussions with Tehran had continued in recent days.

Trump also reiterated that negotiations remained active and urged Iran to reach an agreement, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio told lawmakers that any sanctions relief would depend on Tehran abandoning its nuclear activities. The confrontation comes amid a broader regional conflict that began in late February following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran.

Although Washington and Tehran announced a tentative framework last week aimed at ending the war, no final agreement has been reached. The conflict has increasingly intersected with fighting between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement.

Iranian officials have linked any lasting truce to a reduction in hostilities in Lebanon, while the United States and Israel maintain the two issues are separate.Iran continues to seek sanctions relief, access to frozen oil revenues and eased restrictions affecting its energy exports, while Washington says preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons remains its primary objective.

The latest military exchanges have further heightened concerns over security in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical energy corridor that previously handled roughly one-fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments, with disruptions continuing to affect shipping, trade and humanitarian supply chains across multiple regions.

Kuwait city-Kuwait condemned what it described as Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting its territory on Thursday, as renewed military

Kuwait city-Kuwait condemned what it described as Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting its territory on Thursday, as renewed military exchanges between Iran and the United States intensified pressure on a fragile regional ceasefire and heightened concerns over security in the Gulf.

Kuwait’s foreign ministry said in a statement it condemned the “criminal Iranian attacks” targeting the country with missiles and drones, calling the incident a “dangerous escalation.” The statement came after Kuwait’s military announced that air defense systems had intercepted and destroyed hostile aerial threats over the country.

The Kuwaiti army did not initially identify the source of the projectiles, but said explosions heard across parts of the country resulted from interception operations carried out by air defense units. Authorities urged residents to comply with official security and safety instructions.

The U.S. military later described the incident as a serious breach of the ceasefire framework that has largely held since April. United States Central Command said in a statement that the missile strike on Kuwait represented an “egregious ceasefire violation.”

CENTCOM added that Iranian forces had earlier launched five one-way attack drones posing threats in and near the Strait of Hormuz. According to the U.S. military, all five drones were intercepted by American forces, which also prevented the launch of a sixth drone.

Iran acknowledged that U.S. forces had struck what Washington described as an Iranian drone operation threatening military assets and commercial shipping near the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran said it subsequently targeted a U.S. air base at approximately 4:50 a.m. GMT following what it characterized as an earlier American strike near Bandar Abbas airport, though Iranian authorities did not specify the location of the base.

The latest exchanges mark one of the most serious escalations since a ceasefire took effect following the U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran earlier this year. Despite a reduction in large-scale hostilities since April, Gulf states have continued to report intermittent drone incursions and missile threats originating from regional flashpoints, including Iraq.

Saudi Arabia condemned the attacks through its foreign ministry, denouncing what it called the continuation of “treacherous Iranian attacks” against Kuwait. The United Arab Emirates also issued a statement condemning what it described as “terrorist drone and missile attacks” targeting Kuwaiti territory, calling them a violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and a threat to regional stability.

Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi said the continued attacks violated international law, the United Nations Charter and principles of good-neighborly relations.

The developments come as diplomatic efforts continue over a possible U.S.-Iran understanding aimed at extending the ceasefire and reopening negotiations surrounding Tehran’s nuclear program, though uncertainty remains over the durability of the truce amid continued military activity across the Gulf.

Moscow-Two civilians were killed in separate Ukrainian strikes on Russia’s border regions of Belgorod and Bryansk on Monday, regional authorities

Moscow-Two civilians were killed in separate Ukrainian strikes on Russia’s border regions of Belgorod and Bryansk on Monday, regional authorities said, as cross-border attacks continued amid a prolonged conflict and faltering international peace efforts.

Officials in Russia’s Belgorod region said a Ukrainian drone struck a vehicle in the town of Graivoron, killing one civilian. The attack was among the latest incidents affecting Russian territories bordering Ukraine, which have increasingly come under drone and artillery fire during the war.

In the neighboring Bryansk region, acting Governor Yegor Kovalchuk said a man was killed in a Ukrainian strike on the settlement of Belaya Beryozka. Local authorities did not immediately provide additional details regarding the circumstances of the attack.

Ukraine has frequently targeted military and infrastructure-related sites inside Russia, describing such operations as a response to sustained Russian bombardments of Ukrainian cities and regions since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022.

The latest fatalities came a day after intense Russian attacks across Ukraine. Ukrainian authorities reported that at least four people were killed and more than 100 injured during overnight strikes from Saturday into Sunday, with the capital Kyiv among the areas affected.

Kyiv and Moscow both reported that Russia employed its nuclear-capable Oreshnik ballistic missile during the latest wave of attacks, marking another escalation in the use of advanced weaponry in the conflict.

The Russian strikes followed a Ukrainian drone attack on educational facilities in the Russian-occupied eastern Ukrainian region of Luhansk, where authorities reported 21 deaths and more than 40 injuries.

The conflict, now in its fifth year, remains Europe’s deadliest war since World War II. Diplomatic efforts led by the United States to broker a settlement have made little progress in recent months, with negotiations largely stalled following the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East and the resulting shift in international diplomatic priorities.

Dubai-The International Atomic Energy Agency said on Sunday it was “gravely concerned” after a drone strike triggered a fire near the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the United Arab Emirates, though Emirati authorities said there was no impact on nuclear safety or plant operations.

Authorities in Abu Dhabi said emergency teams responded to a fire in an electrical generator located outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah facility in the Al Dhafra Region following the drone strike.

The IAEA said it was closely monitoring developments and remained in continuous contact with UAE authorities, adding that it stood ready to provide assistance if required.

The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation said radiological safety levels were unaffected and confirmed the plant’s critical systems continued operating normally.

“No injuries were reported, and there was no impact on radiological safety,” the Abu Dhabi Media Office said in a statement, adding that all operational units at the facility remained functional.

Authorities urged the public to rely on official information sources and avoid circulating unverified reports related to the incident.

The Barakah plant, located west of Abu Dhabi near the Saudi border, is the Arab world’s first operational nuclear power facility and plays a central role in the UAE’s strategy to diversify energy sources and reduce carbon emissions.

The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions and increased concerns over the vulnerability of critical energy and infrastructure facilities to drone and missile attacks across the Gulf region.

Neither UAE authorities nor the IAEA immediately identified those responsible for the drone strike.

Beirut-Lebanese militant group Hezbollah said on Saturday it launched a drone attack against a military position in northern Israel, as hostilities continued despite a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.

In a statement, the Iran-backed group said its fighters targeted the Ya’ara barracks with what it described as “a swarm of attack drones” after earlier announcing several operations against Israeli forces operating in southern Lebanon near the border area.

The reported strike comes amid ongoing clashes that have persisted since fighting escalated on March 2, undermining efforts to stabilize the border despite ceasefire arrangements aimed at limiting further escalation between the two sides.

Hezbollah said Israeli troops remained deployed in areas of southern Lebanon close to the frontier, where exchanges of fire and military operations have continued in recent weeks.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military on Hezbollah’s reported drone attack or claims regarding operations near the Ya’ara barracks in northern Israel.

Cross-border hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel have intensified alongside broader regional tensions linked to conflicts involving Iran-backed groups across the Middle East, raising concerns about a wider confrontation along Israel’s northern frontier.

New Delhi— India on Thursday condemned an attack on an Indian-flagged cargo vessel off the coast of Oman after maritime

New Delhi— India on Thursday condemned an attack on an Indian-flagged cargo vessel off the coast of Oman after maritime security monitors reported the ship had sunk following a suspected strike near the Strait of Hormuz.

India’s foreign ministry described the incident as “unacceptable,” saying commercial shipping and civilian mariners continued to face threats amid heightened regional tensions linked to the conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel.

“The attack on an Indian-flagged ship off the coast of Oman yesterday is unacceptable, and we deplore the fact that commercial shipping and civilian mariners continue to be targeted,” the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry said all Indian crew members aboard the vessel had been rescued safely by Omani authorities but did not identify the ship or specify who New Delhi believed was responsible for the attack.Maritime security firm Vanguard identified the vessel as the MSV Hajj Ali, a wooden cargo dhow carrying 14 crew members.

The company said it received reports that the ship sank off Limah, Oman, south of the Strait of Hormuz, after a suspected explosion.According to Vanguard, the vessel was transporting livestock from Berbera in Somaliland to Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates when it was apparently struck by what was believed to be a drone or missile.

A fire reportedly broke out onboard, forcing the crew to abandon the vessel before it sank, the company said.Ship-tracking platform Maritime Traffic lists the MSV Hajj Ali as a 54-meter wooden dhow commonly used in regional cargo trade across Gulf and Arabian Sea routes.

Shipping activity through the Strait of Hormuz has faced severe disruption since the outbreak of war involving Iran on Feb. 28. Tehran has imposed extensive restrictions on maritime movement through the waterway, while the United States has maintained a naval blockade targeting Iranian ports despite a ceasefire agreed in early April.

The Strait of Hormuz handles roughly one-fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments during normal operating conditions, making any disruption a major concern for energy markets and import-dependent economies such as India.

“India reiterates that targeting commercial shipping and endangering innocent civilian crew members, or otherwise impeding freedom of navigation and commerce, should be avoided,” the foreign ministry added. The incident occurred as India hosted foreign ministers from the BRICS bloc in New Delhi, including Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Speaking during the summit, Araghchi said the Strait of Hormuz remained open to commercial traffic provided vessels coordinated with Iranian naval authorities, though he did not directly address the attack on the Indian vessel.
