Al Khobar – Nursing leaders, educators and practitioners gathered in Alkhobar for a two-day congress aimed at strengthening the future of Saudi Arabia’s healthcare sector.

The event, hosted by Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare, focused on professional development, leadership excellence and advanced technologies shaping modern patient care.

The congress, held under the theme “Driving a Culture of Excellence,” aligned closely with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 healthcare transformation.

Participants examined the progress of nursing initiatives and the expanding role of digital tools and artificial intelligence in improving clinical outcomes.

As part of JHAH’s Magnet journey, a globally recognized framework supporting high-quality nursing practice, the congress emphasized excellence in systems, structure and performance.

The gathering brought together experts committed to building a stronger, more resilient nursing workforce capable of delivering exceptional care across the Kingdom.

Congress Chair Baneen Al-Sawad highlighted the unity and purpose behind the event.

She noted that the congress was designed to bring nurses together from across the region to share knowledge, strengthen governance and reinforce a collective commitment to quality care.

Al-Sawad said the discussions directly supported national healthcare priorities.

She explained that elevating nursing capabilities, investing in professional pathways and cultivating a culture of continuous improvement are central to achieving Vision 2030 goals.

Dr. Hani Ayyad, chief nursing officer at JHAH, explained the importance of strong organizational frameworks in delivering measurable results.

He underscored that establishing structure, followed by process, naturally leads to positive outcomes in patient care.

Ayyad detailed the organization’s investment in continuous professional development, noting that JHAH maintains an accredited nursing education program recognized for excellence.

He added that residency and internship programs attract participants from across the Kingdom, reinforcing the national goal of building a capable, high-performing nursing workforce.

As healthcare becomes increasingly digital, JHAH is adopting advanced systems while protecting the human connection that defines nursing.

Ayyad emphasized that technology—such as electronic medical records, virtual nursing and AI-powered patient communication—enhances rather than replaces personal interaction.

He also highlighted the strong link between engaged nursing staff and positive patient outcomes, noting that nurses play the most direct role in shaping patient experiences.

He stressed that leadership accountability ensures high engagement, which in turn drives better results across all levels of care.

For many participants, the congress represented an opportunity to exchange global best practices and accelerate local advancements.

The collaboration allowed leaders to explore new ideas and strategies that could strengthen the nursing profession across Saudi Arabia.

Ayyad described the congress as a catalyst for ongoing transformation, bringing together global experts with a shared mission.

He expressed hope that attendees would apply new insights within their institutions, contributing to long-term improvements throughout the healthcare system.

The event showcased initiatives aimed at enhancing leadership capabilities, expanding professional training and integrating advanced healthcare technologies.

These focus areas are central to the Kingdom’s continued progress in building a world-class healthcare landscape.

By uniting professionals committed to excellence, the congress reinforced Saudi Arabia’s dedication to strengthening nursing practice and improving patient outcomes.

The momentum generated in Alkhobar is expected to support the country’s healthcare evolution for years to come.
