Cairo – Approximately 25 million children in Egypt started the new academic year on Sunday, attending one of the 60,000 schools across the country. To create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, many school sites were adorned with balloons and decorations, following a directive issued by Education Minister Reda Hegazy.
On the opening day of the academic year, Hegazy, accompanied by Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal, visited Al-Sayeda Nafisa Secondary School for Girls in Cairo, which has a student population of 603. They extended their best wishes to the students, teachers, and staff for the year ahead.
Hegazy emphasized the Education Ministry’s commitment to school development and the well-being of students. The ministry has taken various measures to benefit students, including the creation of question banks that students can access to aid their studies.
Governor Abdel Aal highlighted that Cairo is home to 5,813 schools, serving a total of 2.5 million children of all ages, making it the city with the highest number of schools in the country. He assured that operations were running smoothly across the city and noted that 38 new schools had opened this year.
The new academic year in Egypt will continue until June 8, 2024, providing students with ample time to engage in learning and pursue their educational goals.
As the academic year commences, educators, students, and parents are hopeful for a productive and successful year filled with opportunities for growth and achievement.
