Saudi Arabia’s Dr. Al-Issa praises India’s coexistence model

Date:

New Delhi – Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, secretary general of the Muslim World League, on Tuesday lauded India’s unity and the Muslims living there for their sentiments of national pride. During a ceremony at the India-Islamic Cultural Centre in New Delhi, he stated, “They are proud that they are Indian citizens and they are proud of their Constitution.”
Dr. Al-Issa also praised India for what it has done for humanity. “Indian wisdom has received a lot of attention…We are aware that coexisting peacefully is one of our shared goals. We are aware that the Indian subcontinent, with all of its diversity, serves as an excellent example of cohabitation, both in words and in practice, and we value all the efforts made in this direction, he added.Following Dr. Al-Issa’s commendation, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval emphasized the strong message delivered by the Secretary General of the Muslim World League that it is imperative to live in peace and harmony in order to safeguard humanity. This was in reaction to Dr. Al-Issa’s praise. Doval stated, “…Excellency your deep understanding of Islam, the religions of the world, and unceasing efforts towards interfaith harmony, courage to persistently lead on the path of reforms has not only contributed to a better understanding of Islam and its contribution to humanity, but has also prevented extremist and radical ideologies from afflicting the young minds.”
He continued, “India has successfully managed to provide space for all of its citizens regardless of their religious, ethnic, and cultural identities.” India has the second-largest Muslim population in the world, which is a source of great pride for Islam. The population of Muslims in India is comparable to the populations of all but three Organization of Islamic Cooperation member nations.
India only became a haven for persecuted people of all faiths from throughout the world by being open to tolerating different world views and ideas, exchanges and assimilations of many cultures, beliefs and traditions.
Dr. Al-Issa’s current six-day tour to India, which started on Monday, is aimed at fostering interfaith harmony and establishing ties between the governmental and religious authorities of India and the most powerful Islamic organization. Saudi Arabia founded and supports the Muslim World League, also known as Rabitat al-Alam al-Islami, an international Islamic NGO. As a result, the trip is being viewed as “peace diplomacy”.
