Riyadh – Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman sent condolences to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday for the tragic 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Over 4,000 people have already died as a result of the deadly earthquake that slammed both Turkey and its neighboring Syria. Large portions of Turkey and neighboring Syria were shaken by the quake, which is regarded as one of the biggest to hit the area, early on Monday morning.
Its repercussions were felt in the neighboring nations of Jordan and Lebanon.
MBS during the phone call said, “expressed his sincere sympathies to [Erdogan], the Turkish people, and the relatives of the earthquake victims, and his wishes for the fast recovery of the injured”.
The Crown Prince emphasized the Kingdom’s sympathy and solidarity with Turkey in the wake of the catastrophe.
Erdogan, for his part, “expressed his gratitude and admiration to the Crown Prince for the noble and fraternal thoughts he expressed, appreciating the Kingdom standing by Turkey’s side during this difficult period”, according to SPA.
Separately, the Saudi foreign ministry announced in a tweet on its Twitter account on Tuesday that both King Salman and the Crown Prince had sent cables to Erdogan expressing their support for Turkey at this challenging period.
