Saudi Arabia Delivers Vital Food Aid and Life-Saving Medical Care Across Africa

Riyadh — Saudi Arabia, through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), has expanded its humanitarian reach across Africa this week, launching large-scale food assistance and delivering advanced medical care to thousands in need, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

In Burkina Faso, KSrelief inaugurated a significant food security initiative in Ouagadougou, designed to assist the country’s most vulnerable families.

The project will provide 38,900 food baskets, each weighing 40 kilograms and filled with essential food supplies, reaching approximately 233,400 people across several regions. The program is part of Saudi Arabia’s pledge to support the Lake Chad region, a commitment reaffirmed during the 2024 Jeddah Donors’ Conference.

In Mauritania, KSrelief successfully completed a voluntary medical mission between September 18–25 in Nouakchott. A team of 18 Saudi volunteer doctors and specialists carried out 28 open-heart surgeries, 95 cardiac catheterization procedures, and three advanced transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) operations. These procedures provided free, life-saving treatment for patients who lacked access to specialized care.

Meanwhile, in Sudan, KSrelief continued its humanitarian efforts in North Kordofan State, distributing 1,400 food baskets in Sheikan locality. This initiative reinforces Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to supporting Sudanese families affected by food insecurity and regional instability.

With these efforts, Saudi Arabia highlights its growing role as a global humanitarian leader, bringing together food aid, health services, and community support to improve lives across the African continent.
