At the UN General Assembly, the climate envoy for Saudi Arabia talks with ministers and representatives

Riyadh – Adel Al-Jubeir, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Climate Affairs Envoy, engaged in a series of meetings with ministers and senior officials during the 78th UN General Assembly session in New York. These discussions aimed to address climate change and explore other important issues on the global agenda.

One of the key meetings took place between Adel Al-Jubeir and Bahrain’s Minister of Oil and Environment, Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina. The two officials deliberated on strategies to mitigate the effects of climate change, recognizing the urgency and significance of this global challenge.

In addition, talks were held with the United Nations’ Deputy Secretary-General, Amina J. Mohammed, and the President of the 78th Session of the UN, Dennis Francis. These discussions encompassed various subjects, including the environment and other pressing matters of international concern.

Adel Al-Jubeir also met with Prince Jamie de Bourbon, the climate envoy for the Netherlands, and Jennifer Lee Morgan, the State Secretary and Special Envoy for International Climate Action at the Federal Foreign Ministry of Germany. These meetings provided an opportunity to exchange views on climate-related issues and explore avenues for collaboration between Saudi Arabia and these nations.

Furthermore, the Saudi minister reviewed bilateral relations and discussed international and regional developments with Alvaro Leyva Duran, the Foreign Minister of Colombia, Albert Ramdin, the Foreign Minister of Suriname, and Ana Cecilia Gervasi Diaz, the Foreign Minister of Peru. These discussions aimed to strengthen ties and explore avenues for cooperation on shared challenges and opportunities.

Adel Al-Jubeir’s participation in these meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly underscored Saudi Arabia’s commitment to addressing climate change and engaging in constructive dialogue with international partners. The Kingdom recognizes the importance of collective efforts to tackle global challenges and advance sustainable development at both regional and global levels.
