Murder in Mumbai: Man cuts up body after killing his flatmate and stays in the house with the pieces

Date:

A 56-year-old man was detained on Wednesday night for reportedly murdering and dismembering his live-in girlfriend in his leased flat on Mumbai’s Mira Road. According to a police official from Nayanagar Police Station, decomposing body parts discovered in his home raised suspicions that the murder may have occurred two to three days earlier. The officer added, “It appears the accused had been living with the body parts all these days.”
Manoj Sahani, the defendant, had been living with Saraswati Vaidya, 32, in an apartment complex in Geeta Nagar Phase 7 for the previous three years.

On Wednesday at around 7 o’clock, the Nayanagar PS got a call from locals who were complaining about the smell coming from the couple’s flat. The cops discovered the woman’s body parts when they arrived at the building and went inside the flat.

Sahani was brought into arrest right away. The murder’s purpose and method of execution are being investigated after Sahani was detained, according to Zone 1 Deputy Commissioner of Police Jayant Bajbale.

According to Bajbale, “We think Sahani cut the woman’s body into pieces to make it simpler for him to dispose of them.”

Some body parts are missing, according to a police official at the Nayanagar Police Station, and they believe the suspect dumped them.

The police are currently filing a FIR against Sahani for murder and evidence destruction. In order to gather samples and evidence from the flat, a forensic team has also been called.

Police were told by block residents that the couple did not socialise with them. According to investigators, their flat door has no nameplate and is registered in Sonam Builders’ name.
