New Delhi – India’s Home Minister Amit Shah has tested positive for COVID-19, and has been hospitalized on Sunday, according to his official Tweet.
Shah, 55, tweeted that, “On getting the initial symptoms of corona, I got the test done and the report came back positive. My health is fine, but I am being admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors. I request that all of you who have come in contact with me in the last few days, please isolate yourself and get your test done”.

Shah, who is a close aide to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is one of the most senior politicians in the country to test positive for the disease.
According to local news sources, it’s difficult to trace when Shah had last met PM Modi.
India stands at third position in the world after United States and Brazil, with nearly 1.7 million COVID-19 infections and 36,500 deaths.
