Islamabad – Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan on Wednesday warned that anyone targeting non-Muslim minorities in his country will face strict punishment, and he also condemned the ongoing riots in India’s capital city of Delhi.
Mr. Khan said that, “I want to warn our people that anyone in Pakistan targeting our non-Muslim citizens or their places of worship will be dealt with strictly. Our minorities are equal citizens of this country.”
Further he invoked the world community to take immediate action to stop the violence.
“Now 200 million Muslims in India are being targeted. The world community must act now,” he tweeted.
“Whenever a racist ideology based on hatred takes over, it leads to bloodshed,” he added.
Over 20 people have been killed since Sunday according to official records in the ongoing violence in Northeast Delhi, which is primarily targeting Muslim minorities.
Muslim houses and businesses are burnt and razed down to ground.
The voilence was alledgedly triggered after BJP’s Kapil Mishra had made intimidating and provocating speeches against anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) protestors.
Indian government under Prime Minister Modi passed the controversial bill in parliament in December 2019. The law paves the way for minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan to get the Indian citizenship, but the critics say it is biased against Muslims, since it’s only applicable for Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Jains, Buddhists, and Parsis, excluding the Muslim migrants.
