Tehran — Iran’s Supreme leader Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday that Iran does not want to fight with United States after Washington deployed an aircraft carrier and B-52 bombers to the Middle East warning Iran to restrain from attacking US interests in the region.
“There won’t be any war. The Iranian nation has chosen the path of resistance,” Khamenei addressed senior officials on state television as cited by Turkish Daily Sabah news agency.
“We don’t seek a war, and they don’t either. They know it’s not in their interests,” Khamenei added.
US President Donald Trump withdrew from 2015 nuclear deal a year ago which was signed between Iran and global powers under which Tehran curbed its uranium enrichment capacity, a potential pathway to a nuclear bomb, and won sanctions relief in return.
Since then, Trump has increased sanctions upon Iran in order to squash Iran’s oil exports to zero, and to pull Iran into fresh negotiations on a broader arms control deal.
However, Khamenei has termed such peaceful negotiations as “poison”.
Meanwhile, United Arab Emirates has reported on Sunday that four commercial vessels including two Saudi oil tankers were sabotaged offshore from the UAE emirte of Fujairah which is outside the Strait of Hormuz.
Investigations carried out by US national security agencies proved that Iranian proxies carried out those attacks.
Iran’s sabotage acts in the region have caused great amount of unrest, for which the countries in the region have demanded to not let the Iran go unpunished
