Dalit man allegedly killed by upper caste Hindu-men for eating infront of them

Uttarkhand – A Dalit man died on Sunday after battling for his life for over nine days when seven people of the Hindu’s upper caste allegedly beat him for eating in front of them at a wedding reception.

Jeetendra, a 23-year-old Dalit was critically injured when men of upper caste got furious after watched him eating in front of them in a wedding reception in Uttarkhand’s Tehri district.

According to the Police officer DSP Uttam Singh Jimwal, the incident took place on April 26 at a wedding reception in Shrikot village of the Tehri district.

Jeetendra was critically injured and died at a hospital in Dehradun after nine days of treatment, Jimwal added.

Police have booked a case against the seven members of the Hindu’s upper caste under the SC/ST Act.

Police is investigating the matter and will take further step after post-mortem reports.
